FOOD FOR THOUGHT

They will repair it on their dime, EXCEPT(there are exception to the exception) if you modify the gun mechanically. IE, trigger jobs, replacing hammers, bolts, triggers, or internals with aftermarket parts. Add ons such as lights, scopes, rails, etc are OK. Fool around with the mechanics, the warranty is void, if they want it to be. At best, they'll bring it back to factory specs and keep your non-spec parts.

that is why you should keep your original parts. that way you can send the gun back with out your aftermarket stuff

No that's completely wrong. They cannot void your warranty for swapping parts, or even modifying a part. What they can do is deny a specific warranty claim if the failure is shown to be a direct result of the modification/aftermarket part, or if you just plain screwed something up but they cannot just void your warranty. The only way they could effectively "void" your warranty is if all the parts were deemed "non-user serviceable". Since this rifle uses standard AR trigger groups, they would be hard pressed to prove that. The Magnuson-Moss warranty act is one of the consumer's best friend, google it. Anybody in the business of providing any sort of warranty service knows it well. But the same people generally rely on the average Joe knowing nothing about it.

With all that said, you will have the least amount of headache if you return the rifle to stock condition before sending it in. It also may be a good idea to test fire it after returning it to stock condition (assuming it's not already broken) to make sure that the symptom that you are having still exists.

You didn't mention it... but I think I remember Beck sending his back in with a threaded barrel without a fuss.

Phil has a good memory. I sent my 15-22 back to S&W with a threaded barrel and flash hider on it. (I did take out the RRA NM 2 stage trigger and put the OE back in it before sending it back.) Since my extractor was AWOL, the aftermarket trigger did not cause that, nor did the aftermarket flash hider.

S&W must have liked the looks of my flash hider. Shortly thereafter they started offering the 15-22 with a flash hider. :D
