Been trying to find time for this and another thread I have to post. First this one. With permission from a couple of Shasta fund donors--as their donations came after Shasta's bills were paid, I asked permission to donate their money to a no-kill local cat shelter called: The Cattery-as they had told me to keep the money to use as I see fit. The money is not mine so im not using it for personal needs. I made my first visit to this cat shelter on Wed morning and spent about an hour there emersed in nothing but cats of various designs, ages and health. I donated so far, $200 of the left over money but not the rest as ive not had time to ask the other donors what they wish me to do with their funds. Ive also not yet had proper time to thank all the donors-and the kind folks who signed and sent me a nice card--that's the other thread.

Before I left, I gave them another $20 from my wallet, and will continue to do so at least once a month-or as I can afford it.

The first room had about 20 cats in it-various ages but all had an aids-like disease. Its not like the human form-not terminal and they dont need meds. A kitten tried his best to adopt me but, it was just too soon even though I almost broke down anyway. Another slightly older cat tried to do the same. Anyway, when the time comes--ill be getting a critter from this place--and the soonest I will even try--maybe around Christmas.

Id like a female kitten, and id like to name it after a member here. What do you cat people think?

Thank you sir, I hadnt had time to properly thank you and ask you what you wanted me to do with your money. Ill gladly visit them next week on whatever day I have off,and leave them yours as well. :-)) You sir,are a better man,and im priviledeged to have you as a friend.

BTW here is a little information on Feline aids. My first cat, Frito, was rescued by us right out of the woods of north central Texas. We brought him home and took him to the vet. He had obviously been on the run for a while and was pretty banged up and dirty and skinny. He was diagnosed then with Feline aids and we were told that he should be kept inside as his immune system was a gonner. We did but after 7 1/2 years he came down with gingivitis of all things and couldn't shake it so we lost him. Turns out that gingivitis is fairly common demise for cats with this condition.

It is a blood/body fluid born disease and he probably got it from having to fight off other feral critters.

Dog Guy here, all though I have enjoyed a few cats, especially Siamese and Blue Russians.
Once my Bride acquired a classroom Ro-Dent, Guinea Pig or siimiliar.
I named him Herman the Vermin.

Kudos to you.

There is one close by that we support and have used many times called The Scratching Post. It breaks my heart to go in there as I want them all.

Ruthie is hopeless. As fast as I pull a kitten out of her purse, she shoves another one in.

We lost our two old ones earlier this summer and we rescued three more. Our little clowder of 5 is healthy, young and spoiled
so I think we are good for a while.

I don't think of them as commodities but I have found that if you lose one, get another as you both are blessed by doing so.

They do brighten my day.

We are on our third, another rescue from the shelter. This is the first one we got as a kitten, boy does he have energy. He's now about 10 months old and is still a handful, but he does "seem" to mind. He likes to hide for hours at a time and sleep, but when he's out he likes to really play.

When it came to names, there is a website (probably several) that lists cat names, and we scrolled through until we found one that seemed to fit him. Zachery.

Hmm......
A female cat named Snubby...
Then I've never seen a cat that drank beer and smoked cigars:

After Zachary died, his little buddy Natayo spent days moaning around the house.
We got him a coupla sisters from a no kill shelter, that's Sandy on the left and her sister Sara on the right:

The all get along well:

For a cat with health issues--he sure was a handsome fella. His looking great is a testament to treatment by his adoptive parents.

For sure--my next kitty will be strictly an indoor cat. Im taking no chances. I also hope this one too-will enjoy watching Westerns like Shasta did.

Hey Friend, glad you rode that idea home.
Far as female kitty names go I'm the wrong one to ask.
Maybe suzieqz has one, although "kitty" is already taken.

I was thinking of Susie or Jeniffer-for the next one. Either way--whichever it will be? it'll be for a member here-as well as a for a personal friend of Sabrina's and mine. The friends: Susie C--of Canada--trouble is---this Susie also has cancer-and I have not heard from her in about 3 months and also fear she is gone-and the Jeniffer--is local and I run into her every so often.

Good grief I thought I had it rough ,and to think im devestated with one-but you two have much more sadness than I have had with four-legged family members.

I see a "theme" going on there. Black and white and fuzzy all over. I was sorta thinking the same if possible-for my next. I need (rather want) a mostly white--with grey on head-tail-and a spot on on eside if possible?

If I can get those photos of Shasta rescued and onto something? ill make a copy-send it to Christer-to post here. Ive some unique shots of Shasta. I never could get her when she was angry at a dog--her tail would puff up to triple its size--which was hilarious and id laugh till I cried it was so funny.

Hope you find another fortunate feline to love and befriend!

I will, and now im thinking it might be befors Christmas--maybe before Thanksgiving. I enjoyed making those days special for Shasta by giving her treats--I want to do the same for another. Where I llive-they allow only one--but I think ill break the rules and may get two. I know others who have two dogs-so why not two cats?

Ringo you need to come up here to Deer Park. Right now our feral moma cat has 4 Kittens about 4 weeks old that she just started bringing up on the deck.

Bear-a sho, nuff tuxedo, Pepper and black and white with no particular pattern, and 2 mostly just what you described. Mostly white with gray on the face ears and tail and each has a gray spot on the side and one on the back. They are Jimmy and Timmy If they ever let me get close enough with my phone I'll get some pics and even a movie if I can figure out how to post it.

Female cat names I have known:
Skittles
Missy
Prissy
Bella
Baily
Bond
Annie
Raven
Pickles
Pattie
Ginger
Sugar
Dot
Socks

More I just can't think of right now.
