My wife is an avid fan of the show and I was watching with her last night. Apparently several of the castaways "time traveled" (I know) back to the 1950's. There was some gun play happening and Jack (main character) was welding a Bruniton finished Beretta model 92!!! Kate (female lead character) was weilding a Sig P220 (I am pretty sure, it was a single stack mag). Now, to my knowledge, neither gun existed in that time period. Is that right?

I think you are right. However, the show purposefully plants anachronistic props as part of the story line (time travel, ability of people to change the past). or at least they can use that as an excuse for poor research...........

Not that it makes much difference, but the gun battle took place in 1977.
I'm a fan too.

Early model Beretta 92s would have been on the market in 1977. I think the P220 came out around 1979ish, but I'm too lazy to go look it up.

Not that I follow the show, but if people could travel in time, then they couldn't they travel in time with their guns?

With the risk of showing my geekishness.....

The guns were stolen from a safe in the motor pool. The`safe and guns were supposed to be from the '77 time period.
Earlier this season part of the group jumped around from the 50's to the '00's while carrying M-1 carbines and other Korean era weapons.

I seem to recall a Beretta Brigadier from their series 70 marketing that looked a lot like the modern 92. Wasn't there also an Egyptian military pistol (the Hewan??) that was also similar in appearance?

There were also Walther P-38's, I think one Luger and a few 1911A1's, and they all looked WWII vintage. As for long guns, there have been Garands and M-1 Carbines in the show, both in the 50's and later along with AK47's, FN-FAL's, SKS and Remington 760 Pump..and several other types!

They were pretty good with their guns until last night's show. The Beretta and the Sig were current production guns. Totally wrong for 1977. Kind of a bummer because it ripped me out of the story line with the stupidity of their mistake.

I still love the show though.

My wife and kid like that show a lot. Watch it on DVDs. I watch it now and then. Whenever that Ben guy shows up I'm always saying, "Shoot him! Shoot him!"

Adding to the military list, several M-14s have put in an appearance.

Lord, how the hell do you people keep up with this show. I watched the first season and it made my head hurt. I gave up on it. Now, my wife LOVES it.
