Hi All

Im new here but actually had both the 9 and 40 my father-inlaw has the 9 now as a gift. (yea I actually like him)

I'll admit I was very good with the 9 and with the 40 I,m pulling my shots alttle but I love the 40 and with few more range runs im sure I'll have it down and be as good as I was with the 9

had the 9 almost 11 months before finally getting the 40.

Has anyone found now, over time, that shooting 9mm with your 9mm barrel out of your 40Shield has caused any issues with the extractor or ejector?
Premature wear of the extractor?
Brass ejecting normally? (not in your into your face)
Brass damaged?

I have the 9mm. I chose it because that's what we carry on duty in the 124 +p GDHP. I can tell you from direct knowledge that the GDHP is very effective. Personally, I'm a .45 guy, and that would be my preference, but I'm not averse to .40 either. However, I once asked a pathologist how hard it was to tell the caliber by a specific wound channel. He told me that with today's hollow point ammunition, he could not tell the difference or identify the caliber unless he found a slug.

While I would rather carry a .45, I have no problem with the 9mm, given it's effectiveness as I've witnessed it.

I have a .40 Shield and a 9mm M&P compact that are my carry pistols . I have a significant quantity of both caliber ammunition . I bought what I could find when I was looking . Realistically I don't believe the difference in caliber or capacity will ever be an issue .

9mm. If I wanted to go bigger, I would skip .40 and get something like an XDS .45, unless there is a Shield .45 in our future.

I am laughing at all the double tap comments. It makes me laugh thinking about all these tiny tactical pistoleros running around double tapping three times and doing a mag change. At that point I'd rather have a revolver.

I just bought a 40 this week. I chose the 40 because I carried a 40 and have a full size 40. I will say that the shield 40 has the stiffest recoil spring that I have ever experienced in a pistol. Right now I have the slide locked open and its gonna stay that way for a few days. I'm hoping it will help soften up that spring.

9mm. Much easier to control on subsequent shots. Also my agency issues 9mm so its cheaper to practice.

Chose the 40...yesterday (already 300 rnds thru perfectly!). 40 was for me since my agency carries 40's and there's usually some "spare" ammo around for practice. Plus I like the 40 and the recoil doesn't bother me.

I bought both when they first came out and I shoot both about the same accuracy wise. The 40 is a bit snappier but not so much to make a big difference to me. Cost of ammo in my area isn't enough to make any significant difference to me. I do like the extra round in the 9 and the extra power of the 40. To be honest I still; can't decide which one Id keep. So I carry both in rotation so the other won't get jealous and upset. :)
