Join the NRA.

It does not matter if you like them or hate them. They have visibility in the main stream media.

I have seen hundreds of threads on dozens of forums all with the posters already giving up the fight. Posters asking what they should stock up on. Do you think this or that will be banned? Where can I find magazines?

DO NOT GIVE UP THE FIGHT. Heck, legislation has only just been proposed. Nothing has even been voted on yet.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of EVIL is for Good Men to do nothing."

For roughly the cost of a magazine, you can be an NRA member.

What kind of message will it send to our Legislators if the threat of a new Ban causes the ranks of the NRA to double, triple or more.

If EVERY poster on every forum that is talking about stockpiling for the Ban joined the NRA, they would have millions of new members in the blink of an eye.

Remember, even if a Congressperson or Senator believes in and wants to eliminate the private ownership of firearms, they want to keep their job even more. A Congressperson or Senator will NEVER willingly trade their position in the Government to give the President a Ban on Firearms

So send a HUGE message and join the NRA. Get your shooting buddies to join the NRA. Give memberships to friends as gifts.

Want to really have fun, buy your Senator or Congressperson an NRA membership as a present.

Also do not forget to send E-mails and call your Congressperson and Senator. You will not change their personal beliefs, but you may change how they vote.

So true - and NRA membership is a lot more important than owning one more magazine.

That's why I'm NRA member since long time ago but this week my wife joined as a member too and talking to all my friends to do the same thing. Many of them have many magazines but no membership of the one of the most important organizations in helping us to fight for our rights. Hope to reclute as many as possible.

I know I posted these thoughts more than 2 years ago, but I just saw the Forum's ad for the reduced cost NRA memberships pop up again and decided to bring my thoughts back up top.

You may notice that those rumored bans from back then never made it through Congress.

The NRA is a powerful voice for us.

They are not perfect, they do things that I do not like, but watch the Sunday morning talking heads when a GUN issue is in the news. There is one and only one gun advocate that the liberal/progressive/leftist anti 2nd Amendment newscasters, comedians and politicians continuously mention time after time.

That group is the NRA.

Liberal/progressive/leftists are afraid of the NRA

Become a NRA member and help keep them afraid

Bought a life back in 1959, cost $100

Last year I just became a Life Member. I really wanted to have that membership status part of my life since I've been enjoying this sport for many years now. Next is becoming a Life member at my local club. Eventually I want to become an NRA Benefactor or Patronl

If I had signed up for life membership when I first joined, they would have gotten a lot less money from me over the years. I believe it was $300 then (early '70s). I'm happy to send them a check every year as an annual member, and few extra bucks now and then when they have a hot issue.
The other way to support the shooting sports is to participate in the Friends of NRA, a sister organization that raises funds for a lot of pro-shooting causes like range improvements, safety training, and especially junior shooting programs. As a charitable organization they can't and don't get involved in politics. I'm active with our local committee and it's very rewarding. There are over 1000 dinner events across the country annually. If you can attend one, you'll find it's a great evening and a chance to make a difference.

When the dust settles, the NRA is the strongest, loudest pro-gun voice we have.
Because of us.

Well said. I do not agree with everything they do and say, but certainly for the most part I do agree. May I suggest that existing members bump their membership status up a notch? There is even a level now above "Lifetime", so I even have a notch to go yet. Just a thought to consider.....

Above Life is
Endowment
Benefactor
Patron

There is also the Golden Eagles. This was started perhaps 15 years ago. Golden Eagles dues are $200 per year. These funds are used for for things like the Eddie Eagle safety program for youngster, hunter safety programs and they even help the Friends of the NRA. I am proud to be Charter member of the Golden Eagles

GREAT Suggestion

Friends of the NRA events are usually action packed evenings.

I go to at least one or two of the events each year. A couple of time I even volunteered and worked some of the games that go on at the events.

Yes it is not a cheap evening, but it is less money than most live concerts or Theatre and on par with going to a professional sporting event. But at the Friends of the NRA events you do not have trouble parking. The venuse are all well chosen

It is lots of fun, there are door prizes (some are even guns), auctions for products and services and games of chance where you can win things.

PLUS, what event can you go to where 100% of the attendees are Pro 2nd Amendment?

You might even make a new shooting or hunting buddy at one.

No. I won't join the NRA, because I don't support their extremist positions.

.......hmmm, nah......... I should have joined years ago and glad I am a member now. To each his own and you are welcome.

Then who is lobbying for you in Washington DC to keep your right to bear arms? As long as it is someone you can count on to be there to lobby for your "Right to Keep and Bear arms" then great!!

If you cannot answer that question.... Then that is exactly why we need the NRA.

No other organization has the grass roots membership to fight the anti-gun, anti-hunting, anti-handgun, anti-semi auto rifle, anti-self defense lobbyist with very deep pockets. These anti gun movements are in this for the long haul. Only a large citizen supported organization like the NRA has the ability to keep them from redefining/ changing the 2nd amendment. Australia had no such organization in 1996. The Port Arthur Massacre as it is called...stripped all legal law abiding citizens of gun ownership...and they enjoyed it like the U.S. , with the stroke of a pen. Without the NRA we would have already been there.. right with them. So who is fighting for you like that?

No. I won't join the NRA, because I don't support their extremist positions.

All I can say is that you have a right to your opinion.

Despite their faults, they are your best friend when it comes to the Second Amendment. While all our Constitutional Rights are important and interdependent on each other, the others would go away quickly without the Second Amendment.

I also have life memberships with NAGR, FOAC, PRPA, and USCCA but they don't have the influence or the membership that the NRA does.

WOW, I first started this thread six years ago

One again in out Great Nation it is time to re-address the 2nd Amendment and it's place in a modern society.

To this day I still believe that the People's Right to Keep and Bare Arms is absolute and can not be regulated by Congress

Many of our existing gun laws are unConstitutional. They just need a champion to get them before SCOTUS

The recent laws that have passed here in Florida due to the continued badgering of a left wing media do nothing that would have prevented the most recent tragedy

More then half of the so called "New Laws" are things that have been part of our legislation for as long as half a century already. If you do not report the mental issue, it can not be found in the background check

As usual the Loonie Left wants to address the inanimate object instead of the Evil Person that committed the Crime, after all their true goal is to eliminate the object that they dislike.

I have a cousin that is a grade school teacher so obviously this has come up more than once in conversation.

I asked my cousin "If my mouth opens and says a mean word to you, are you mad at my mouth? or ME?"

The answer was ME

"If my hand closes and breaks your nose are you mad at my hand? or ME?"

The answer was ME

"If I take a knife and stab you with it are you mad at the knife? or ME?"

The answer was ME

"So If my finger extends and pulls a trigger, why are you mad at the GUN?"

Send a HUGE message to our Politicians. Instead of buying one more magazine, Join the NRA.

I'm thinking it might be time for another run of these little Chiefs.
