For Victory data base

V63138. Other than the normal barrel roll marks, logo, MADE IN USA and the S/N the revolver is void of any stampings. Most likely a DSC but could have gone anywhere. Will letter this one for sure. Finish is a bit faded but when I pulled the right stock off to check the number (matching) I found a lot of dried cosmoline that is only slightly softer than the steel.

Chief Dave, Old armourer's trick to get rid of cosmoline: Get 55 gal. drum of diesel fuel. Build fire under the drum and heat until it's simmering. Drop in to the barrel, any ordnance that has been stored in cosmoline. Let simmer for a couple hours. Remove ordnance. Presto - No more cosmoline!

I may try that but have a couple of questions;

1. road or farm diesel?
2. Plastic or steel drum?

You Air Force guys never did have much of a sense of adventure.

Chiefdave, Metal drum, of course, and diesel should be Millspec grade, after all your ordnance is clean, seal up the drum and return it to the Quartermaster's warehouse as it was a midnight requisition. (Been there, done that!) Ed.

Are you certain that there is no Ordnance bomb mark on the bottom of the butt?

Nothing on the butt except the s/n and the ring.
