During the first portion of firearms season, 11/10 through 11/20 I use a 12 gauge shotgun with slugs and carry a revolver just in case. This year I have my 3.75 year old grand daughter all day long while my wife is at work and her Daddy is sleeping because he works nights. My 9 year old grand daughter is in school all day and gets home around 4:00 PM. I'm stuck. I got to go one day that my Wife was off work so I didn't lose out completely:rolleyes:
Missouri has changed the regulations for deer season around a bit and I can use a handgun, 12/15 through, 12/25. Needless to say I have declared those ten days "my deer season". I have notified all parties that have babysitting skills that I ain't gonna be around. Their mommy can't cope with the kids and stay as high as she likes, but by George somebody else is gonna have to for ten days. That is my final decision and I will stick to it, unless I still have to watch my two beautiful grand daughters at that time:o or my Wife tells me differently, which has happened before. Oh well:rolleyes:
Hope all of you deer hunters had a good season,:)
Peace,
gordon

I remember going in high school and haveing to make up the time at double time in the study hall or libary. What a crock! I never studied to begin with! I read a lot of novels though. Strange thing is I am retired now and have the time, guns and chance. Through the years I have quit hunting for several reasons. First, my wife and also ex wife wouldnt eat bambi. 2nd, with age I have come to respect life more. And yes, I still eat beef and pork.

I am watching the season pass from the computer or my easy chair.

Caught the cold that my wife had before the season a couple days
before it opened. It's one of the worst I've had in years. Large
coughing fits and fatigue are the main features.

I may get out with the muzzleloader if the weather holds.
We are having fine fall weather now and have had it all season.
Bad timing on my part, and a bad season to miss.

I'm like feralmerril, I use to love to hunt, but my wife doesn't like wild game either. No objection to hunting, just doesn't like the taste.

I've come to the conclusion I like lookin' at them better than eatin' them too.

You can always have the last word ... but it better be "YES dear ".

I have surgery next week and will be out of it for 6 to 8 weeks. I missed a small four earlier, and the rest of the week I will be out one handed with my revolver for the rest of the time.

well, we've got 1 more weekend of rifle season and a couple of weekends of muzzle loader season. I am feeling the hunting time pinch myself. I blasted away the first brown thing I saw on 4 legs so at least the freezer won't go bare. I have a couple more tag to fill yet. I doubt I'll fill them all.

No, sir.
Around my house during hunting season, it's Yes DEER.
It's the only time of year that I pretend to wear the pants around here.

The rest if the year I wear my skirt and obediently do what I'm told. Hmm, maybe that's why I'm allowed to hunt so much?

As the great hunter, I have slain many a ground beef. Also, as a descendant of 4 Italians from the same same small town in the "Old Country", I prefer "the butcher" to do my dirty work for me. Joe

Our firearms season opened this saturday and i hunted hard on my
buddies farm the whole weekend. After one days rest (Missed my
own bed) i'll be back at em' in the morning. Took a vacation week
from work and the wife was informed i would be coming and going
from deer camp all week. She's good with it. Knows i'd just be a grouch
if forced to stay home with her all week. I did my good deed and hung
her outside Christmas lights today, "monday" so i'm back in the woods
tuesday and for the rest of the week. To me it's not about the meat.
I would'nt walk across the street to eat a deer steak or chop. I hunt
for the enjoyment of hunting and the fellowship with my buddies.
I have a relative who will get any deer meat from my successful hunts.

We had back straps simmered in gravy with popcorn rice and home grown corn last night. Today I took the rest of the deer meat to the butcher to be mixed with pork and made into sausage. We ground the one Jr. hit with my Silverado so we have plenty of burger stuff. A couple of more and I won't have to buy meat (except for an occassional steak) for the next year. We're not greedy, there's just too any of them around here not to take advantage.

Have hunted 17 days so far this year. Bow season opened the first of October and gun opened today. The way I look at it I was a good dad, a good husband, a good employee. I am retired now, the kids are grown and my second wife understands the passion. Its my turn and I am going to hunt. I don't have to kill a deer to be successful but I do like to make a good shot and see them drop. We will eat approximately three grown deer a year. We don't buy beef for home but do eat pork and chicken and whatever fish I can catch. I killed a doe with the bow Saturday and missed another with my M57 this morning, my first shot at a deer with a handgun. I'll hunt tomorrow and Wed., take a break for TG and back in the woods Monday. WV's second week of gun for bucks is next week then a week of gun for doe. OH one week season is next week also. There is also another three day doe season and each states muzzle loader. I shoot them drag them, cut them up, and cook them....because I can. Sometimes it seems almost like work, that is until I am sitting in the tree watching the sun come up and the woods come alive. I know of no other place I would rather be.

EHD hit our state hard this year. I was only able to make it out once during rifle season and saw the tail end of one deer. I hope to get out more during the December muzzleloader season. If that doesn't yield any meat for the freezer I'll try again for the late season anterless.
