Best round for snakes? P.O.'d bobcat apparently. Weapon handling requires lots of training and holsters are hard to come by, but there's no arguing with the results.

Minor question here. Bobcat? I thought the ones with the little tuffs of hair on the points of their ears were lynx?

Bobcats do to, although usually smaller than lynx. They're all part of the same family.
The rattler should have known you never interrupt a lady's bath. Even a dust bath in this instance.
I think it just depends on what part of the country you’re in.

Our local bobcats in WV don't have obvious tufts on their ears, but they are sure cute little devils! DNR succeeded in tagging and putting a transmitter collar on this Mom after her kittens were weaned and took off.
I like having a few predators around to keep the deer population under control. I don't have any stock or fowl that they bother, so we have an "agreement." Our parcel abuts state game lands. They have plenty of range to roam and a refuge here where they are safe and appreciated. Our housecats are strictly indoor and safely observe their wild relatives from the window.

We have bobcats, panthers, bears and gators here, all are preyed upon by the pythons.
An interesting post written a week or so ago by TxBryan regarding cats
and snakes. As the saying goes “speed kills.”Cats of all flavors are badd***! There are other You Tube videos of domestic cats going all Kung Fu on about any animal out there.

Have a 21 year old Black cat. He is still pretty quick. In his younger days he could smack your hand about 3-4 times before you could move it away from him. The term "Sudden" comes to mind.
Any Jerry Clower fan knows that a lynx is just a “souped up” wildcat!

That is precisely why our two rescue kids stay indoors. Also protects them from being coyote or bobcat food. However they are encouraged to kill any wild things which get into the house and are champion mousers. Lacking mice they eagerly pursue stink bugs, ants, wasps and spiders.

My experience with shot shell has show the to be pretty worthless at over 5'. Most of them leave a huge nearly empty spot in the middle of the pattern at much more than that
Cats are flat amazing when it comes to speed and reaction time. I saw a video of a snake trying to strike a house cat and the cat was able to avoid it every time
