Anyone else been hit by this service being down for almost a week? Can't get any info thru regular sources. I've lost hundreds of gun related pictures that I had posted on other sites. Really strange there is no info or explanation, contacting the office in Texas is about impossible. My fault for not having a secure backup system. If you don't have a backup for the service you are presently using better get one. Pete

I have been a fototime user for nearly 20 years. In that time it has only had a couple short shut downs. I was always pleased with the level of service. Now after nearly a week of them being down with no explanation I'm getting concerned. I would think in that amount of time a company would let paid users know or at least have a website up to explain their problem. I trusted them too much and it looks like I may have lost over 300 pictures of guns, pets, tractors and home.

It won't happen again, they will be backed up. It looks like maybe fototime screwed the pooch like photobucket.

I had a bunch of pics up there too. Looks like they are gone for good. No adequate explanation offered other than 'circumstances beyond our control'.

After getting shafted by PhotoBucket I started using FotoTime, uploading & rebuilding non-working PB links, and building a new inventory of link-able pictures on their pay-to-use site.

Now after (4) years that's all gone with FotoTime's demise. I still have the original photos on my PC of course but also a lot of posts/threads with busted links to posted photos & articles in them.

Originally I used to post my pictures here on the forum as an attachment. It has some limitations but it sufficed until the forum had a software glitch & I could no longer access them thru the "User CP / Miscellaneous / Attachments" directory.

After a while they fixed that problem but shortly thereafter it quit working again.

Apparently this problem only affects some forum members & even though I've asked on the fix status several times over the years I still only get a blank white screen instead of a list of uploaded attachments there.

So until that's fixed it's not an option.

Not sure if it's worth the hassle of re-doing everything only to have another hosting site disappoint me. :(

I now use postimage.
They just move your photo from your computer to this forum.
Images stay on your computer.

Sorry, but that doesn't make any sense. You'd have to leave your computer on 24/day for them to access your pictures.

You upload your picture (original stays with you) to them & they host it when you post a link to it.

Their website's main page says:

Post your images here
By uploading images to our site you agree to the Terms of use.

Also, when I went there they try to get you to update Flash Player to the latest version.

Adobe doesn't even support Flash Player anymore, let allow providing updates for it, & it's actively being removed thru Windows updates. Very shady. :(

"Since Adobe no longer supports Flash Player after December 31, 2020 and blocked Flash content from running in Flash Player beginning January 12, 2021, Adobe strongly recommends all users immediately uninstall Flash Player to help protect their systems."

Still the best solution is to upload the pictures directly from your computer instead of using a hosting service, any hosting service. If there is is one thing I dislike is browsing through a thread a discover most pictures are gone.
