Found .380!

Went to the range today with my backpack full of pistols and ammo. Usually weighs about 35#. I shot for two hours and lightened it a fair amount.

Browsing through the store on my way out I noticed some brass cased PMC
90 gr fmj .380 ACP to feed my Shield .380 EZ I bought for my kids last fall. That ammo has been non-existent so I’ve been hoarding my small stash. But there were a couple dozen boxes of 50 rounds, so I bought 5 for $115 total OtD including tax (.46/rnd). It will get cheaper but we’ll be shooting instead of waiting.

Left with my backpack just as heavy as when I went in. Felt good.

Good find. I got 4 boxes (their limit) of 95 gr FMJ .380 direct from Federal a couple of days ago for just over $30/box, plus shipping.

NukeRef: Many thanks for that tip. Minimum is up to 10 boxes now for range ammo and I got 6. Twenty days to ship, but I can live with that as my new 380EZ will take that long to arrive.

And I had no idea you could buy directly from Federal. Thanks.

$30/50=$0.60/round direct from Federal. Not a bargain. Wait for local shelves to fill up @ $23/box.

I just bought a nice little I-Frame .32 revolver (photos will follow next week after I pick it up) and they asked me TWICE if I realized it was a .32 and pointed out the scarcity of .32 revolver ammo right now. I assured them I had an adequate supply on hand.

Most high end HP .380/9mm carry ammo has been a $1/rnd for the last few years. That price is not inflated unless it’s cheap bulk HP. Don’t feel bad. Get in all the gunfights you want.

At $.60-$1.00 per round, you’ll think before you shoot and aim more carefully. This could be a good thing.

I saw a sign recently that said “Due to the high cost of ammo, we will no longer be firing warning shots!” That pretty much says it all.

With the scarcity of ammo I'm seeing a lot of 380 and 9mm pistols for sale. Been thinking I should snag one.

I've recently found .380 at Academy and Cabela's. In the past few weeks, I have purchased:

2 boxes of Monarch steel case @ $21.99 / box (Academy house brand, first .380 I had seen in a while)

4 boxes of Monarch brass case @ $24.99 / box

4 boxes of Winchester white box @ $27.99 / box

2 boxes of Aguila @ $24.99 / box

Before these purchases, I only had 1 box of Perfecta left and needed some ammo since I recently purchased a Ruger LCP Max.
