Never seen one before..and it's worn some but in good shape mechanically. Has some finish wear from carry..a few shiny spots on the alloy frame. It also has a magazine with a metal follower. I wondered what value you guys would put on it and the age of it.

Serial number is A154360

Congratulations!

I love mine and have enjoyed many outings with it.

I see them in the 400.00-600.00 range when they're out for sale. The higher end in a box and very good condition.

Nice Find !!!

Going by the serial number on your 39-2, it was manufactured in mid 1971. These are really nice pistols with alot of history. They shoot great and feel really nice in the hand. Hope you enjoy it. Don't know what you paid for it but as long as you like it and are happy, that's all that matters. :D

Congratulations to you sir! About 18 months ago I bought a 39-2 in perhaps a little better condition but no box etc. for $350 and was very happy with the price. I think PetePeterson will be along soon to agree with me that the Md 39 is THE BEST LOOKING S&W semi-auto ever.

I agree the 39 is a gorgeous pistol, but I think it's eclipsed by the similar but longer and more refined Model 52.

Meh, let me think on it...Did I say that before???

Yes, in the blued version with wood stocks, I believe that's the finest looking auto they produced. More effective or efficient models, maybe, but not better looking.

If it South of Rochester..maybe Schutheis's in Arkport? I will stop in today and scoop it out from under you ...:) Just kidding. Since it is in NY State I would definitely be all over that. Is the price reasonable? Should not be more than $600. Around here it would bring s $300-$500. w/o box etc as a shooter. But they are fine pistols to own and shoot.

A-ha! Then you need the original no-dash Model 52 with the lock-out screw adjusted such that the trigger... is out! ;)

Genesee Valley Shooting Supply in Caledonia, and I already paid half of it , so it's set aside . I figured what he wanted was reasonable..$400 OTD. :)

Sure looks like a 422 to me in design and appearance. I like them very much myself.

Have to agree with Sevens. I have lots of 39s and really like them for
carry. But the grace and elegance of a Mod-52 is far superior. If you do not own one, go buy one and get back to me. Its not a carry gun. Its a range gun. Best

What's the difference between this and my 439. They look the same. I bought it and never shot it.
