A favorite saying of a friend's was "Even a blind pig finds a truffle once in a while". Well, that saying came true for me last night. A local gun board had an add posted for a Model 57, like new, in the wood display case for $800. Although I wasn't in the market for a 41 mag, I couldn't resist and sent the guy a text with a few questions and the words that I would take it regardless. My questions were whether it had any dash marks after the Model number (it didn't) and what length barrel (6"). The seller replied that although he had a few other messages, mine was first so it was mine. We met today and not only was the gun as advertised, he included two 20 round boxes of ammo. The display case is a little worse for wear and will most likely be refinished at a later date, but included the original instructions and sight adjustment tool. Gun isn't going to pass for NIB but it's easily 98-99% and has the three targets along with red ramp/white outline sights.

Pictures will appear in a day or two. :D

Deals like this are rare as are sellers who will stand by their original commitment. He told me today that someone phoned him last night an offered him $1200 and said he would be there as soon as he could. A lot of folks would have backed out our deal and sold it for the extra cash. I thanked him for his honesty and integrity. In all, he told me this morning he had 12 other calls about the gun.

What a great deal and a honest gentleman to boot! Quite a rarity these days Congratulations, looking forward to the pictures. 👍

40 rounds of 41 mag are worth $800 now days lol……. I went to look at a Honda ATC 2 summers ago. Guy wanted $600. I got there looked at it and said I’ll take it. Another pulls in driveway and said I’ll give you 750. Seller looks at me and says can u beat that. As we’re standing there another guy slow rolls past house and takes off fast and angrily. The jerk seller had 3 people come at once.

A while back headed to a dude’s house to buy a Rem 700BDL LH.
A guy from Los Alamos, wealthiest town in NM, Tax Payor Gold flows,
Called and offered more than asking price.

Whether I was looking for a Model 57 or not, for in 98% condition and with case for $800, it would have been mine too! A couple of decades ago I was lusting for an N-frame big bore. I really wanted a Model 57, six inch, blued finish. Could not find one at local shops nor at several gun shows. They were hard to find then, still hard to find today. I settled for a Model 29-3, factory nickel.

I just wish there was a “ local gun board” in my area. Armslist is the closest thing we have. Now that it’s a pay sight nobody uses it.

Pictures as promised....

WOW...you got one of the best deals that I've heard of so far this year, especially with $50 worth of ammo included. It's also nice to hear that the seller was an honest gentleman. Last year I picked up this mint 4" nickel Model 57 for $1200 (no box) and was happy to get it! Yours looks to be in excellent condition, and so does the mahogany presentation case liners. The case alone is worth upwards of $150. As you know, you may not want to store your Model 57 in the case, as the liners are prone to disintegrate. You didn't mention the serial number, but since it's a no-dash revolver with non-diamond GA target stocks, it was manufactured between 1968-1982. You did good! Enjoy that .41 Magnum!

I had a similar deal a couple years ago on this forum. Sold something (can't recall what it was), for $300, and another person jumped in and offered $600, and became almost belligerent that I wouldn't sell to him at the doubled price. Told him I committed to the first offer and and that was that.

The ammo boxes still have the prices on them - $32 each:
