I have a love/hate relationship with gun auctions sites. They make me spend money when I probably shouldn't. But at least I get something to show for it.

I found this deal this morning. A four inch 686-4+ with box & docs for $750. That's a reasonable price for any pre-lock four inch 686 in good shape, but a -4+? I had to jump on it. It's a gamble, but worth a shot. I'll provide an update when I receive it.

Here she is. Looks like it was carried a lot, but not shot much. It cleaned up pretty well. No need to make it too pretty, because it will be used.

Congrats on a great gun!

Weren't those -4+ guns only made for like one or two years?

Although more of a SB fan the dash 4+ is arguably the high water mark for 686's as its a 7 shot and the last of the forged internals.

Honorable mention goes out to the 686-5 which although has MIM internals introduces the first Mountain Gun .357 and is pre IL.

Hey Engine49guy, are those stocks a little odd on the -5 round button frame? They appear to be SB targets.

I am surprised that there was no competition for that gun.

I got the impression that it had not been listed for very long. It had 10 days left when I bought it. And the starting bid price was the same as the "Buy it now" price. I knew it would be gone if I thought about it too long, because I know I'm not the only one who would jump on it at that price.

IMHO: In the 686 camp the -4 is the best of breed. I wouldn't part with mine for anything.

As a matter of fact, I hit the watch button and was close to jumping on it, but I hesitated because there's another variation that I'm after right now. Nice acquisition, sir.
