Found another gotcha left by the builders

My broter is a home inspector in the suburbs north-west of Dallas and he can tell some horror stories. The builders HATE HIS GUTS as do the real estate agents. His clients LOVE him. he does no advertising, all of his business is repeat and word of mouth and he cannot keep up. Anyone who is having a house built without his own inspector doing the periodic inspections is crazy.

I'd give 100 likes if I could. All my work was commercial/industrial/institutional. Idiots install the stuff (especially when I worked for the Pgh School Board) then you never see them again. I didn't appreciate fixing some hack's mess-ups. (I usually spell MESS differently.) Yes, if I were to have a home built the contractors would hate me. One mechanical contractor I worked for had our own guys hating me. I loved that! Stupid idiots running heating & cooling water piping right in front of the control panel & filter access doors to make them inaccessible was done often. I just refused to "sign off" on certain things. It wasn't my money, but I was going to be the schmuck working on the stuff.
But a person's home, that's completely unacceptable. Good luck X 100!!

LVSteve, If you had the extra cash for entertainment, call an appliance repair shop then watch the poor dude try to get the thing out! If I lived near Vegas you could borrow my Sawzall or Metabo. (Recip. saw and hand grinder for the youngsters.)

This isn't anything really on topic but when I finished building my outbuilding at our old lake property I thought I would be clever. It was finally finished, built primarily with lumber milled off the property, 15 x 30 with a loft on the lake side 10'. Of course being in Canada I had access to Cuban cigars and had just finished enjoying a maduro Romeo and Jullieta. I hammered a nail through it up against the peak of the roof with the days date. From ground level it was easy to see, difficult to identify, one would have to take a fourteen foot ladder up to see it if truly curious...I would have to know what that thing is.
