Found at LGS today my first 5 screw

You are correct, it is a pre-Model 10. It should have shipped from S&W in October or November 1949. We cannot see your picture as posted, but using the address, it is a snubby - the most desirable of the typical ordinary M&Ps. Grips seem correct. Are they numbered to the gun (reverse side)?

The Barrel seems to be a different color than the Gun,Does it number to the Gun? It could just be the lighting in the picture....

That's not too far out of line, depending upon where you are. But I can't say it's worth more than $550. Personally, I'd have stopped at about $500.
