Holy barrel length Batman!!!

lol- very nice. Personally, I'm partial to snubbies. Got a little collection going right now.

I betcha that thing will feel like a BB gun when shooting .38 spl out of it!

Don't even need bullets...just pistol whip 'em.

Cool gun. Should recoil like a creampuff.

The 8 3/8 is the unloved barrel, not a one of any model in standard production right now but don't let anyone kid you: accuracy wise they are just short rifles. Great revolver! Consider yourself fortunate.

I just got my 686-1, 8-3/8" back from S&W for repairs. See the gunsmith forum, that's anouther story.

today I took it to the indoor range for some 25yard shooting. I have a Burris scope on it.

I shot one, 6-shot group at 5/8" and anouther one at 3/4". these were two different loads using Hornady's FTX bullet.

I shot one, 1" group using hornady's 140 gr XTP bullet.

I'm hoping for 1-1/2" groups at 50 yards when I get the load sorted out.

Enjoy. It ought to make a grate coyote rifle.

That will definitely reach out and touch someone! Sweet gun...that's one I want to add to my collection one day.

I am more of a 4" and 2.5" guy but that is just cool looking! Nice piece.

Yeah I am actually a 3" fan myself for practical purposes but I do like the long barrels for target shooting. I carry a 696 but would like to find a 3" 629 and a matching 8 3/8ths 629 for the range.

Congratulations on the purchase as that's a great looking revolver. I have a few long tubes and my favorite for shooting is a 17-4 with 8 3/8 inch barrel that shoots like it's a laser beam.

I have the same thing in a -3. Accurate as can be; SA trigger break is without equal. I shoot only fast magnums out of it; it's my groundhog gun.

I'm sure you will be just as pleased with yours.
Andy

I never did like the 8 3/8 barrels. That is until I shot some. A very nice catch...Enjoy.

My father in-law has the same gun just fondled it the other day, very nice gun have fun with yours.
