After 30 years, I found my Grail handgun: a Florida Highway Patrol issued, 5" nickle Model 27 S & W from the 70's. This beauty was made in 1976, and is a twin to the one carried by my best friend in the FHP. I rode many miles with him, and fired many rounds through his issue 27. I always wanted one, but could not afford to buy it when it was available. Last Friday I checked the auction website, and to my surprise, there it was. I made my bid, and last night was pleased to learn that I had won the auction. Now comes the wait until it arrives. Hope you will enjoy seeing the pix made by the seller.
Bill

Congratulations on buying a gun that you always wanted and is the grail gun of your choice.

It's nice to get 'the one you always wanted'.

Congratulations!

Good on ya!

It is always satisfying to see a collegue find that certain revolver he has been seeking and a Model 27 has a certain charm all of it's own. I have a four-inch I think about selling and then I see photos such as yours and I wimp out.

Merry Christmas,

Bill

30 years is a long time to wait but it will soon be forgotten when you get to handle and shoot that 27. Beautiful gun, enjoy it for a long time.

Now that is what I call patience! Congrats on the purchase and ENJOY!

Congratulations on winning that auction. I too was watching it but couldn't really afford to bid on it. As a retired Florida LEO, I knew many troopers who carried the M27, Though more carried the 5" Colt Trooper. The real prize is the 5" M19 which was specially made for FHP. Other than a couple of troopers who I know that retired with one, I've never seen an FHP M19 in private hands. You are a lucky boy. I'm envious.

Best wishes and congrats... My quest has been three years and I have only seen three guns, all after they were purchased. Never found one on line yet. It is wonderful that you have finally achieved your grail.. I hope mine doesn't take as long...

Thanks for the comments, guys. As far as the 5" 19, I've never seen one. After the model 27, my friend was issued a 4" Python. I believe they currently carry a .40 auto. Now, if I could just find a 5" model 29...........I guess we're never satisfied. Happy New Year to all; Bill.

Your gun was actually made in 1975 not 1976. It was shipped 3/13/75 as one of 500 sent to the DPS in Tallahassee.
