For anyone interested in buying the older model
Leupold Deltapoint, I found some at a distributor
in Priest River, ID called Lone Wolf Distributing.

Here's the link to the product page:

Lone Wolf Distributors - Products - Leupold DeltaPoint

I just picked one up without the mounts since my
Performance Center 9 came with mounts. Same
goes for the CORE models. You can save $50 by
going that route. I paid $399 and 2 day shipping,
no tax.

I literally scoured the internet looking for one of
these but they've been discontinued by Leupold.
Even with it's flaws (battery on bottom, set screws
on the back), this is a great site. I've watched
dozens of shooting videos on Youtube with this
site and I like the fact it sits low and co-witnesses
with the iron sites.

After I gave up looking for the Deltapoint, I bought
a Burris Fastfire 2 with a 4 MOA dot. That one is
going back and my Deltapoint is on it's way.

Here's a good video showing how the 7 MOA triangle
looks:

You can also get the site with a 3.5 MOA Dot.
Get them while they last!

I suspect that eventually Leupold will eventually figure this all out and will offer the old version of the Deltapoint in the various configurations as well as a new Deltapoint Pro similar to what they were talking about making a year ago , Not sure what the new Pro will have for features, but really don't care, I've got a year on a Deltapoint and can't think of any feature I would change, eliminate, or add to the current model. I also suspect prices will stabilize once all the internet projections and reports settle down. I've got a couple of spare DP's that I bought at $327 so I figure I'm set for a number of years for any projected needs. Here's a pic of my latest "project" gun. (just can't leave well enough alone :D)

Nice looking project BKreutz!

I see you've got the new Flat Apex trigger in there too.

I know what you mean about the Deltapoint. The
more I researched and looked around, the more I
kept coming back to it as my #1 choice. When I
finally had made up my mind, I couldn't find them
anywhere!

I finally gave up and ordered the Burris Fastfire 2.

I did another search here recently and found the
Lone Wolf site and confirmed they had them in stock.

Shipped the Burris back to Amazon today and should
have my Deltapoint by Monday or Tuesday. Can't wait!

Thanks, still have a bunch of work getting the right combination of Major PF load, and spring combination. This one will be for Open major only, My Magnaported one will be open minor and the non ported will be for open minor and major and Limitied minor and major. Haven't decided on Steel Challenge, probably sick with Open Minor and the Magnaport. Tough life to make so many decisions.

Anyone carrying one? I like it but would like to know what the battery life expectation is.

I use mine pretty much daily in practice and Training. My enforced bedtime after the surgery of the past 3 weeks has closed that down a bit. I went 6 months without a battery change, then changed it during a teardown of some othe part I was playing with. Not a problem with it. The documentation says it's supposed to start "blinking" a week before it quits I didn't feel like waiting. So I have around 50K on one set of batteries and running on set 2 since then (probably 30K) Haven't seen any warning signs. I'm not really concerned. anything inside 15 yards is point and shoot anyay. and if my battery went out, I'd just point and shoot until I could change a battery. (I've actually considered adding a switch so I could shut it off in short disctance ranges.

My Fastfire III didn't make two hundred rounds before it failed. It is back at Burris right now.
My LGS had some original Deltapoints so I bought one with the 3.5 MOA dot. Very pleased so far, co witness is better than the Fastfire III and I didn't like the switch on the Burris.
Only complaint on the Deltapoint was the adjustment lock screws are not really accessible without removing the sight. I was able to heat and reform the included Torx wrench so that I can now lock or unlock the adjustment screws with the sight in place. Wouldn't be a problem in other applications but with the C.O.R.E. the rear sight blocks access.

Originally I was worried about the Torx headed adjustment lock screws, but when I first set it up, I left both the lock screws loose, adjusted elevation and drift to zero, removed the sight, tightened up the lock screws, and haven't had any sight drift since then. I shoot around 1000 per week and haven't had any zero drift in the 40+ weeks that I've used it. I'm thinking the next time I set up a new one, I'll leave the stock sights in place since I never use them anyway. Funny thing is that all the stuff that I thought I'd have a problem. I just keep using them, swapping them over to new frames and they're still zeroed in. :D

I guess the trick is to bend the provided wrench
very slowly after heating it up.

You can find a few pics in other threads after they've
made the bend. I attached one below.

I have a deltapoint first generation. The issue I have with it that the brightness is auto. I always think it's a bit to bright and results in dot blooming and fuzziness. I will be trying it on a new CORE. If it still bothers me I will replace it with a RMR.

Maybe it's just me, but I have to ask.

Do people really put $400 sights on a $400 gun?

If so can I assume these are for competition guns?

Of course we do.. Ought to see what we put on our expensive guns...
Just compete with myself but it has extended the useful shooting of these old eyes.
