I unfortunately live in one of "those" states and was sold a model without the fin grip. I'd like to purchase one so called S&W customer service and was told they will not sell me a fin grip as a part, and had a bit of an attitude. I also asked if there model with the fin grip (in CA) was available in both RH and LH configurations and she refused to answer that question (?).

This seemed very odd to me.

Anyone agree?

I would call back. Like most companies, they have more than one person answering the phone. Some are better than others, and some should be cleaning toilets instead of answering the phone. If by chance you get her again, ask for a supervisor.

The FPC fin grip is ambidextrous, as in the "fin" is on the center of the backstrap so is equally awkward for either hand. I've held one and you can tuck your shooting hand thumb along the side of your trigger finger. Fortunately I don't need a fin in my state. It isn't meant to improve ergonomics but to appease the gun grabbers.

As to why S&W won't sell you one, I have no idea. I also observed that S&W replaces the grip tool that holds in the backstrap with a plug that is screwed in. Presumably to make the fin harder to remove if you live in a ban state.
