Ok, he has a lame excuse. Even Doublesharp, who should be in a hospital appeared as usual, working the crowd. But not GF.

Long ago, my beloved table pard John received a phone call from his oldest daughter about Thanksgiving time. She announced she was getting married, so John said "that's good, when?" And she said late August, to which he thought was nice. Then around Christmas, she announced they were moving the date up to late July, and John said "thats good". So by late January she suddenly discovered some conflicts and decided to again move the date to late June, to which John said "thats good." Things went on but in March, she and her hubby to be again decided to move the date. They called home to tell John they'd decided early June was better. John asked the date, and he said "that's OK, but I won't be there, its a date we have a gun show!" A man's got to have his priorities.

So about 6 years ago my oldest decided to get himself married up. I approved of the girl, but when they told me the date, I just said fine, but I won't be there. Why, they asked. Simple, its a gun show date, and any simpleton could get the schedule and see what are acceptable dates and which aren't. He selected wrong. Don't shed any tears, he also decided to accept the long offered "elopement bonus". A nice round figure with zeros at the end, sized to offset the pain me having to attend would cause.

We've discussed GF's youth, while he's attacking our old age. But when the chips are down, the youth just don't show the dedication us old guys still have. This is serious stuff, as in a gun show. Weddings, vacations, and even funerals (other than our own) don't interfere.

OK, a gun show report: Doublesharp was there, heavily medicated. Dave Keith showed up for a few minutes to chat, and we finally let him wander away, in a daze, about an hour later. On the plus side, he did like my show and tell gun. I didn't sell a thing today. Brenda sold some Ivory Colt grips, so she's happy. My pard Joe sold a $7 grip.

Boyd had a prewar 3rd model box for sale, but its for a blue 4". And he wanted way too much for it. It was a small show for June, maybe half the size of a normal June show. We also conflicted with some religious convention, a lot of people who have no idea how to drive, or take their turn when it comes. They played the game "no, you go first". Wish I could tell you I have a couple of new guns, but I don't.

Burg, is your given name Dick or is that just a nickname that fits? :D

I've got to take up for my sidekick, today he was riding shotgun with the undertaker, escorting his mother in law's remains to her final resting spot in the hills of Virginia, may she rest in peace. The family plot is too far off the beaten path for a hearse so they're hauling the casket in a 4x4.

Yesterday, he ducked out 30 minutes after the funeral, leaving a houseful of mourners, to get to my house on time for Friday's set up day action. By the way, where were you? Set up day is the big day, that's when the seeing and being seen is done and you were too busy to show up? What, sock drawer out of control? Here you are whining about nothing new but me and GF are busy polishing bodyguards and S# mod 28s. ;)

But you are right about me needing to be in the hospital, the mental kind for continuing to apply this mislabeled acetone to 60 years of sun damage to my face. I made my first ever trip to a dermatologist about a month ago and she recommended a 2 week, twice daily application of fuoroaracil 5% cream. Wow. This stuff would peel paint and it's got my face splotched with angry looking red welts. I'm supposed to ultimately be baby's butt purdy but right now my face looks like a bad case of diaper rash/measles/road rash. Got 4 more days to go. Couple guys said it was improvement. :D

But I'm kinda like a honey badger, I just dont give a **** :D

Poll:
Do you,
A. go to the gunshow
OR
B.Bury your mother-in -law!?!

I've been married 23 years and I'd like a 24th so I picked B. :D

The NGD show is a cross between a high school reunion and a jail inmate line-up. I will state that I did make an appearance on Friday for set-up and a early Mod 49 Bodyguard followed me home. :)
I've never owned one of those ugly things but it's like a bulldog...so ugly it's cute.

And AMMO, Burg - I bought AMMO!
(I'm lucky Dave drove the truck)

Did a walk around lookin' at/for the elusive reasonabily priced K-22. No luck.
( When I have to buy Bodyguards not to be skunked, it's a slow show.:))

Burg I did see a 10 & 1/2 inch Mod 29-2 with the adjustable front sight described as an "experimental model"...for $1800. I told the owner they should continue the experiment....it wasn't finished yet.

No fear old timer. If you can make it a while longer I'll return to the ring for a Masterpiece knock-out.

"...escorting his mother in law's remains to her final resting spot in the hills of Virginia, may she rest in peace. The family plot is too far off the beaten path for a hearse so they're hauling the casket in a 4x4."

Sounds like some of the family cemeteries you find down here in Southwest Virginia.

My party from WV did pretty well today at NGD. We managed to buy a Winchester Model 12 nickel steel 20 gauge with a solid rib, traded for 2 Browning Sweet Sixteens, and bought a Ruger Red Label 20 gauge OU.
I myself was looking for a Winchester 61 pump that I thought was on the reasonable side pricewise, but no luck. Had alot of fun and saw alot
of great guns! Hope to be back there in the near future.

Jr. just called me from up there. He and friends got there about 1:00 a.m. this morning and will do the show and then make the 12 hour drive back here so he can get up and go to work tomorrow. That's dedication. I don't like to move that hard and that fast so I decided to wait for the September show when we won't be as pressed for time.
