Hello, all!
I am curious if anyone knows what grips Frank Serpico kept on his NYPD-issued S&W Model 36. The movie seems to get it right, in that he carried a Model 36 Flat-Latch, with a Tyler-T Grip Adapter and white-colored grips.
They could be ivory, faux-ivory, or mother of pearl. I'm really not sure which. But if anyone knows who manufactured them, or at least what style of grip they are, any insight would be greatly appreciated.
I included some pictures of Serpico showing off his gun in an interview. Notice in the pictures how the grips don't come up to the top of the backstrap like factory J-frame grips. They're rounded at the top, rather than following the contour of the revolver's frame.
I also included a picture from Tyler-T's website, of some grips which look incredibly similar (the ones on the far right). Obviously I can't ask Tyler directly who made them, since they're impossible to get in touch with... maybe they'll get back to me if I send them a check with the question written on it.
Thanks, everyone!
