OK, now that you are looking at this..............there is NO free gun that I know of. I wanted your attention and couldn't use the three lettered word for "fornication". I have an issue that has puzzled me for some time and I decided to "let it out"!!! The cost of shipping an item to Alaska MAY be more expensive. A small item that fits in any of the Postal Service "Flat-Rate" boxes is exactly the same price to ship three blocks away as it is to ship it to any of the 50 states. Long guns are legal to be shipped through the USPS. Handguns must use another shipper(or be FFL). Postings say "not to AK or HI" on for-sale items. If this is for legal reasons, then I understand. As for the price of shipping, then maybe a little self-education is in order. I have bought and sold and shipped to and from Alaska various items and used various shippers. Maybe our being here(in Alaska) forces us to be a bit more pro-active in our endeavors. My intent here is simply to shed some light on the shipping process for those of us that may want to spend our hard-earned money with other members on this great forum. No offense is implied or intended here. Please consider Alaska as part of America when it comes to shipping. If needed-----------I'LL PAY MORE!! Thank you for reading this. Regards.......Sprefix in Alaska(USA)

A bigger concern for me is, why do Alaskans have to trick you into reading their posts?
Sorry about the trickery. I just want to inform people of something that may have been mis-understood. I'm sure that The Peoples Republic of California has caused you or others some undue hassles with shipping and/or receiving. A gun-shop owner and friend of mine relayed a story to me the other day about a guy (GI) that had a personal firearm shipped to an FFL in his home of record (Ca-Simi Valley)and was not allowed to pick it up. I'm unsure of the circumstances, but he couldn't get his own gun from the shop that received it!!!! It is a bummer that this is where we have gone as a country. Again, no ill-will is intended by this or the original post. Thanks...Sprefix

I have to agree with Spre, I chap's my backside everytime I pay the shipping rate requested and it arrives at the mailbox with a sticker on it for half what I paid.

Alaska shipping

I tried to order batteries for my hand held VHF. I was quoted $58 shipping for a $17 item.

"Just put it in the mail", says I.

"We can't" says they.

"You mean you won't" says I.

"We have to ship UPS" says they.

"Letme get that straight" says I, "you're too lazy to call the post office because UPS waits on you daily & you expect me to pay for the convenience."

I live on an island in a town of about 500. Most people only understand what they have experienced personally. They can not comprehend any place the "brown box" does not go.

My money is green too, so you would think a GOOD business man would want all customers served to expand the market. Unfortunately we live in an age where it's all me, the customer can "kiss my butt, or go without"!

Alaska is the most lenient gun ownership wise, has more guns per-capata, & we don't have the big box stores down the street for competition. We're an open market, so why lock us out?

I'm still trying to think of a three letter word for fornication. The shortest one I can go with right now has 4 letters.

Me too. I'm thinking maybe those Alaskans just dispense with an unneeded consonant???

Shipping ammo to Alaska is an issue, since it cannot go "flat rate" by USPS. I was going to ship ammo to a Forum member in Ak, checked the UPS website to calculate shipping and when it came to $60 plus(for 5 boxes of 38's) decided not to ship there. Shipped it to another address in the western US for 1/3 the cost.

No, they have to buy their letters of the alphabet individually. It is a cost saving move ;).

Begins with "S"
Ends with "X"
Rhymes with "SOX"

Enter new word in the original thread tithe in place of "gun"

SCHEEEEEEZ, some people make you draw a picture!

My brother lived in Alaska many years. Shipping was always different than just sending something to texas.

Just smile when you cash those big royalty checks the state sends every alaska resident every year, use some of it to pay for the increased shipping charges to your state. You should have plenty left over.

I have a friend that lived in Alaska for many years, and said he never went to the outhouse without his .44 mag. Someday if I'm drunk enough I"m going to ask him what he did with it when he was there. (Do I really want to know this?)
