Yep, meant for a rifle.
Look at those bullets. If you crimp the .38 Special or .357 Magnum case at the full-caliber section, below where the nose begins, you'll end up with a freakish cartridge that is too long to chamber.
The nose of the bullet will project from the front of the cylinder, unless you've got a model with a cylinder longer than normal. I know that some models do, but can't recall offhand which they are.
My advice: Find someone who reloads for a .35 Whelen or .35 Remington and see if you can't sell or trade them. I wouldn't throw them in the melting pot, they'd be quite welcome to someone with a .35-caliber rifle.
They might work in a Thompson single-shot in .357 Magnum too.
