Free to a good home!

Jim,

Sorry I have no other boxes, but knew this would be valuable to someone on the forum and not just collecting dust in my closet ( and adding to the ire of my wife who wants to throw away anything that hasn't been used in the last three months).
This is a great community and I just wanted to give back. Mike seemed like the most worthy.

So I have to wonder where the K22 that was in the bottom is as well as the K38 that came with the top?

Dazed and Confused!

Mr. Greysun,

Are you saying that the bottom portion of the box held a K-22?

I have no idea as to the history as I got the box and the Colt 45 Bisley 80 years after my great grandfather died. As I said it was still loaded! I know the box is not that old so someone placed the pistol in the box decades after his death.

Is the serial number on the bottom indicative of a K-22?

It was passed down through my great grandmother and a line of women who never had a son.
My distant cousin wanted me to have it (I am the oldest male descentant ) and contacted my Mother to see if I would want it, DUH.
If you see it for sale I am dead.
:D
I love it.

........and on giving the box to VM-
a beau geste for sure, hdougn. ;)

That was my thinking when I post the comment, I think now however my thinking was unfounded. Very possible the box held a K38 with serial no K221140 of around 1954 vintage!
