Free weights whats your routine?

I do 2 hours of lifting with free weights with as little break as possible between sets.

Full chest, back, and then arms. Stretching before and after followed by 10mi cycling 5 mi to the trackand 5 mi back, and 2mi running: 1 mile jog after 1 mi fartlieg on the ash track. 3 days a week.

Working construction 3-4 days a week. Working French Quarter madness 6 days a week including double shifts.

At least a 100 hours of work a week, each day of exercise is about 3.5 hours.

Dang 627, when do you sleep? Congratulations on your recovery from the accidents. Sounds like you are +100%. That workout routine is killer. And no, I will not arm wrestle for the next beer! (I'll just buy the next round :D)

Bench press with wife spotting 400lbs 3 sets of 10.
Snatch three sets of 10 at 185. Squats 500 lbs three sets of 10. Alternating days with a 6 mile run. During the summer I swim 1 mile a day in the bayou. Sundays I rest. Only good carbs- Abita Turbo Dog. Protein-prime rib. Watch my sugar drink diet coke. Best shape of my life. Let me take off my shirt and flex for you.

Holy ****...your wife can spot 400 lbs?

I asked my wife to spot me one time...when I exhaled loudly she jumped...not confidence inspiring.

I used to jump out of bed and do 50 pushups every morning.
When I finished 40 I was happy with that number. The 60's
are a @it#%.
Lifted free all my yut. Now got a universal thats a dust catcher, I'd rather chase loose women that free weights. Time wounds all heels. :-}

I go every morning. My advice, get warm first. Lots of my friends lift first and then do cardio, and they're always pulling something.

I do 90 to 120 minutes on the new StairMasters first thing, every day, seven days per week. Yeah, it hurts. But four or five times per week I lift, and I do opposite muscle groups. If I do bi's, then I do tri's, cables and then dips. I've been struggling with delts lately after I dropped some weight--seems like some strength left, too.

I've also been changing stuff up. If I find myself out of breath and very sore I know I've stumbled onto a new routine. Right now I'm doing a girl's routine, and I'm having trouble finishing it.

Go to YouTube. Check out Dana Linn Bailey. Trust me, it hurts.

Without being intrusive may I ask your age? We have a broad spectrum of members and this would be helpful. Especially for those of us old guys who could "delete" you
from our postings as soon as possible.

Keep workin on those Gluts and abs!

I'm 62.

I got the barbell habit when I was about 28--out of shame. I hadn't worked out at that time in over 5 years. I bought some Adidas tennis shoes, told my wife I was going to go out running for a "few miles" and darn near collapsed after two blocks.

I started slow--I had no choice. We joined a gym and I made sure I did better every day. If I did 7 minutes of cardio one day, I did 7.5 minutes the next.

When these new StairMasters were installed at our gym (StepMill 5 | StairMaster)
I made sure I did the same thing. The day I turned 60 I did one minute for every year. Yikes, I crawled off that machine! It took months to get to two hours.

I asked one of our in-house trainers to create a Princeton Club version of the P90X style "muscle confusion" routine. I was lifting, but it wasn't working and it was joyless. It was a real eye-opener on just how being a creature of habit can sabotage work-outs.

As for Dana Linn Bailey, she lifts more than I do--for now. Give me a year...

"Do you like to hang out in gymnasiums?" :D

^^^Yes,

On my back porch alone, in my running shorts and shoes, alone.
with most likely some form of metal or rock.

P.S. That is a 3 to 4 day a week routine. Usually, three days per week. Work-work. Bigger is not better its holistic shape.

P.S.Shh.:

Google Borat in man-kini.

Like him minus the mustache and accent; otherwise...

I stick with insanity and a little lifting. hit the gym three different days and the other 3 do insanity. its a good balance. I hear whey protein is really good 627 Hunter.

I think that free weights are real strength like construction work or martial arts because you are fighting gravity unassisted and not merely targeting a muscle group.

on to martial arts...? anyone?

Just keep moving. If that's your thing, then do it.

We are now entering the time when people get gym memberships as Christmas gifts or they get holiday discounts. For the next two months the gym will be more crowded than usual. However, by the end of February these folks will be gone. It happens every year.

Let's face it, this commitment hurts, takes up valuable TV watching time, and is coupled by fewer donuts.

I don't eat sweets.

Just coffee or beer.

What TV? I don't have cable or satellite.

Too busy actually living life. I do like the internet...

ya i dont have cable or Satellite either but do have the internet. When i used to have cable i would waste hours a week just sitting down watching dum stuff and getting fat. lol i know use that time to dry fire, work out, learn on this awesome forum, read, and just doing things that matter. i check the news on the internet and thats about it. Life is just to short to spend countless hours watching stupid TV 24/7.
