You would think so, but... I had one guy that was going thru mandatory release at a Federal Prison. Signed all the paperwork, had his ride waiting out front. Instead of giving him his street clothes, they gave him an orange jumper. He complained he wasn't going outside wearing it. I stepped up and handed him his copy of an arrest warrant for his involvement in a prison homicide. Since the prison had a Pre-Trial Hold Over unit, the corrections officers cuffed him, and led him back upstairs. Quite upset, he was...

Well, he didn't have to kill him.. He could have shot him in the hand or something to disable him. Its unfair I tell you.

More than one "resident" I met at work ended up deaded once they got out. Mostly young kids who were actually friendly and personable while incarcerated but once they got out, they ended up back with the old gang and fell back on their previous indiscretions.

That's what they call a "revolving door" IF, they survive? Ive seen it hundreds of times during my time working. Most go back in BECAUSE they basically are terrified to be outside and unsupervised and in an in unstructured unscheduled environment. One thing you can look for to see if someone in your area has spent a time in prison and who has been newly released--watch him walk back and fourth a certain amount of steps in front of where he is staying--which is usually the same distance the rec yard of the facility he was in--was the size of.

The story says this oxygen thief has been arrested 7 times since 2011. It's obvious our penal system has become a bit too soft, some folks sure seem to be anxious to get back in. When the stupids get together you can bet he gets an invitation.

It might be time to reassess the prison's inmate rehabilitation program.

They tried to call prisons Correctional Institutions years ago. That name did not stick. Unfortunately, the bad guys never seem to get the word that some of their selected victims can fight back with lethal force.

So the perp will probably live and go back to jail. Now if he had been killed it would have reduced the future recidivism rate.

Wonder if they will send him back to the same prison where he would see the officer that shot him?

Would be a strange encounter for sure.

Highly doubtful. If there is an Officer/inmate incident at some facility (at least here in Tejas) they always shipthe inmate fool to another facility across the State. Ive seen it happen many times-including to me-when a white racist punk threatened to kill me-and a Judge when we testified in Court. It (the inmate) was at Garza west-wound up near the Oklahoma border at the Roach unit.
