Just got my latest out of jail and as a S & W newbie, was hoping for some knowledge from the forum.

I'm not familiar with the terms I see like "pre lock, pinned & recessed barrel, etc". I do know what the lock is, but other than that, I've no clue about them.

I do believe this gun was made in the 80's which is why I'm posted here.

If you look you can see the "pin" that passes through the frame and the barrel.


Means recessed cylinder chambers. I might not have a picture of that for you but if I don't someone else will post one.

I checked - I've never taken a cylinder photo so someone else will have to show you.

Ah, totally get it now...pre lock = pre hole. Thanks for the info!
