Was at the grocery store the other day and spotted green tomatoes. My wife loves them fried, so I bought several along with some other items we needed.

Got home and the wife saw them on the counter and said "you're going to fry them, right?" Well, I've never done them before, but told her I would.

Got a recipe off the internet and went to work. Wife loved them and I thought they were very good too. Afterwards, the wife took some down to our daughter, who lives two houses from us. Later the daughter called and told me those were the best fried green tomatoes she had ever eaten. I advised her to not tell her mother that.:D

Anyone else like them?

This could turn into a huge "10 worst chick flicks of all time" discussion.

Yeah man. We do 'em a couple different ways.

You should roast a few on the grill with olive oil and salt along with zucchini, egg plant, peppers, etc.

Got that right! That explains why Thelma and Louise is the best chick flick of all time.
At the end they do the right thing and make it alright!
I did like it when they blew up the gasoline tanker.

NO! Taste like ....!

I've actually eaten fried green tomatoes at The Whistle Stop Cafe. Can't say as I really like them because I prefer ripe tomatoes with mayo on bread by themselves or with lettuce and bacon.

LOVE 'EM!! My aunt would slice them, dip the slices in buttermilk and roll them in corn meal. MMMmmmm GOOD! I haven't seen a green tomato since I stopped keeping a garden 20 years ago. I'ma keep my eyes open now though. Thanks for the reminder.

I cut out early from work today and stopped by a farm market near my office. I grabbed a few red and a few green tomatoes. I think the greenies will be roasted unless my wife get them first....she'll fry them.

Fry your green tomato's as you would a crappie fillet..Hot cast iron skillet, I use a Cajun fish batter, available at most stores...
Really tasty...

I had them once down in Va but I can't remember if I liked them or not.:D

We have always rolled them in cornmeal and fried them in meat grease. If it is not raining tomorrow I will build a Cherry wood fire and dip them in olive oil and put salt on some and Old Bay seasoning on some and see which is best. Squash, onions and bell pepper is good either way. Larry
