Silly boy. I've had the gun for just over one month and I've already shot it a bunch. You didn't think I'd miss an excuse to fire it some more, did you?

The gun now has 1,161 rounds through it.

Here are some pics of the wear points. I've used Frog Lube from day one. I don't think there is any more or less wear due to the Frog Lube.

I probably didn't wait a full hour when I first did it the other night. Do I need to start from scratch as in strip everything off it with rubbing alcohol? Or can I just clean it with the liquid FL and the start over with the heating etc with the paste?

No need to use alcohol if you already treated it once with fl. I would retreat it & let it sit & soak into the metal longer. They recommend treating it twice anyway

New to the forum, but I recently bought an M&P 9 so reading up and saw this thread. I know there are alot of different products out there, many are very good and many have loyal followings. FL is worth ditching them for. Do you have to use it? No, plenty of good products, cheaper products. But the beauty of FL is that you only need it, its plant based rather than petro based...which is huge trust me.....it goes along way, you save time and materials after the initial application, it doesnt reek up the house, doesnt harm the environment, and is made in usa. The downside is it costs, but quality costs, special things cost, FL is such a product.

With that said it does not look any different than a couple of my XDM's w/1,000 + rds through. I might give it a try when I run out of my norm. But the Mobil-1 I've been using for years seems to be working just as well. Not downing the FL by any means so please don't take it loke that.

The way some were talking it didn't show any marks/rubs using FL, which like I thought was far stretched. I believe as long as you keep the firearm clean/lubed most products will work.

I agree with you rich. I think there are many solid choices out there and fl isnt some miracle substance, its just one of the better choices. I think it appeals to people for its simplicity, ease of handling, lack of toxicity, and time saved not having to do more than wipe down after range use. It is hands down the highest reviewed stuff if you look at sites like amazon that sell it. Great product, but not magic.

I'm with loveMD. Frog Lube is not a miracle product. As I said before, it doesn't lubricate any better than any other product I've tried.

However, it does do two things much better; make clean up easier and doesn't attract dirt.

I live and shoot in very dusty environments. Here's a pic of my local range:

If I were to use regular petroleum based products, my guns would be coated with dirt when I get home. With Frog Lube, they are not. This alone makes it worth the price for me.

Thats a good point, big leg up on keeping something clean if its protected by something that keeps it from getting dirty.

I treated all 3 of my hand guns with FL tonight. They are all fairly new, but even the slide action seemed worlds smoother to me. I also like the fact that it doesn't stink!

Hello, I have not used FL but have been using Eezox for some time now. I have been using it on my pistols and micro-pistols and since starting they have been running like fine watches! The biggest mistake most guys make when applying FL, is that they dont let it soak into the metal long enough. The directions I got say to heat weapon (setting it in sun, or hair dryer) then apply & let sit for an hour & then wipe off excess FL. When applied properly there is NOTHING better.

Kind of like everything. When all else fails,read the instructions or manual.

I've been shooting over 50 years and this is by far the best product I have found. The more you use it,the better it gets. The best part (besides being food grade rated),is it doesn't hurt any polymer or plastic. It can be used on anything that needs a little lube. IF you feel the need,on the M&P's you can put a small drop of the liquid on the noted lube parts and not worry.

I just got a 8oz bottle of Frog Lube from an Ebay seller. It did not come with any instructions except for a little blurb on the bottle just saying to scrub with FL, run patch, wipe excess. Nothing even about heating or letting it sit.

I went to the FL website and it says to heat the gun and let it sit for an ample amount of time but nothing about how long. Maybe what you got is updated directions.

I previously used Militec as a lube so I am used to heating the gun although with Militec you heat it after applying rather than before. I do my cleaning in what used to be the garage so it gets cold in there. I have a portable radiator type heater in there so all I have to do is lay the gun parts on top of it for a few minutes to heat them up.

I can't wait to try this stuff. Man does it smell good. My fingers smell like Wintergreen Mint just from handling the bottle!

I have a couple of applications of it on my XD-S and I gotta say it feels like the smoothest gun in my collection now. Prior to using FL on it I was having all sorts of FTF's and issues each range session. Ever since applying FL it has been gold...no issues whatsoever

Madmax, U are correct. I also use it on my knives. Works great!!

Nope, I use the paste for the initial preparation and the liquid for cleaning after shooting.

If you heat the parts before application, the paste will melt onto the parts. It will get everywhere and that's what you want. Then let it sit for 20 minutes or so and just wipe it down.

To clean after shooting, I'll put a little of the liquid stuff on an old toothbrush and just scrub everywhere. Then I wipe it all down and apply a little of the liquid to the rails.
