I have a M&P sport with a Magpul MOE carbine hand guard and the front cap next to the A2 sight post is loose, has a lot of play in it and this just started after I installed the Magpul MOE hand guard on it, not sure why it's loose, I have shot it a lot since I have gotten it about a year ago. Somewhere around 3000 round maybe.
If there is anything I can do to tighten it, please let me know. I emailed Smith&Wesson, waiting on a reply. It bother me a bit that when I install my hand guard it moves quite a bit. I really don't want to ship it back to S&W.
Thanks for all the replies.

Pinger,

The only thing I can think of is to shim the MOE handguard where it notches into the barrel nut grooves. That should keep your handguard from wiggling.

IMO, it sounds like the perfect excuse to free float your rifle. :)

You don't have to lose the A2 sight to add a free float hand guard. Just get one that is either short enough or has the cut out for the sight.

I have looked into those free float hand guards and like the way they look but wow on the prices on some of them. I really think these firearm add on's are way over priced. Thank you for your replies and information

Yes, a good free float hand guard is pricey, but worth every penny. It's not the end of the world if you don't have one, but they are much better than the drop in forearms.

They are a tad better on heat control. They keep your hand away from the barrel and allow more air flow.

They are a great accuracy improvement. Especially if you want to put anything on the forearm. A bipod will affect your POI with a drop in forearm, but it won't with a free float.

I have the same rifle and just added a Magpul fore grip to mine, no problems. Are you sure the delta ring is completely forward and not allowing so free room? Just a suggestion.

It looks to be completely forward, the front end cap does wiggle quite a bit, even after install. I got a extended GMG carbine quad rail for like 30 bucks on midway during there black friday sale and I like it, but it does add the weight also it does not move no wiggle
