Dawson Precision and others have information on figuring sight elevation .. Figure the same could be used to figure windage..

I think 6'' left of center at 7yds. is beyond the range of adjustment for the front sight!

Sight adjustment
If you are sure the sights are properly aimed when you get that 6" left offset, you should try moving the front sight 0.146" left.
(This is based on a sight effective length of 6.125" and a shooting distance of 252".)
[If you want to try before moving the sight, find some way to put a temporary marker at the front sight with a mark 0.146' on it and use that mark as your front sight.]

Put the gun in a full supported rest and carefully move the trigger. This will tell if the gun is off sight or if you are pulling the gun when you pull the trigger. I did this with a revolver and found the gun sights were way off shooting low and way left. Had to bend and file the front blade sight.
Thanks folks for the feedback, all good, all deserving much consideration.
Here's what I learned. The SD9VE manual ( which I forgot I had & just found after the question) said move the back sight in the direction you want the grouping to move --->. In this case, right. I was surprised that 0.146" was prescribed (0.125" is an eight of an inch!) I was able to bump it over gradually and keep checking. Eventually, I moved it about 0.10".
I now have a grouping around the bullseye, the way I shoot. In fact, I can now group at 10', 21',and 50'. Now, to work on rapid fire accuracy for an action course. I have a lot to learn.

Sight alignment
You decided to move the rear sight instead of the front, which is just fine. Opposite direction, as you know.
One question . . . Were both sights exactly centered when you were getting the 6" left grouping?

It was a used gun. All else seems to operate fine. I have put about 200 rounds through it, no misfires, the 16 round and 15 round mags work fine.
Now, it is grouping around the target. I am new to sight adjusting and was unaware of how to do it without damaging the sights, or how to adjust in small increments... guess I found out, small pings on the rear sight after placing a fine pencil line showing the original location and having the benefit of the forum's knowledge of moving about 0.146" .

You will find, the rear sight easier to move than the front sight. The front sight is steel and tightly dove-tailed into the slide! The rear is plastic and is easily adjusted.
