front sight enhancement

Hi all, I have a K-22 and a K-38, my eyes aren't what they used to be and I have used bright orange paint on some of my stainless guns with good success. My question is if this would damage the bluing on the K's if I would decide to remove the paint later. Have been reading this forum for a while but the first post. Thanks, Ron

No. Acetone will take the paint off and not hurt the bluing.

Testor's "Blaze Orange" has been what I've been using for 35 years. Put 2 lighter coats on rather than one heavy one. It helps to use a wooden toothpick rather than a paint brush. Stir the paint before using, and wipe the sight off with alcohol prior to painting just to make sure all oil has been removed. It lasts a looooonng time, and if it finally does get ugly, just wipe it with alcohol and add another fresh coat. If you decide you want to remove it, either acetone, or solvent with a stiff toothbrush will take it off in a few minutes.

This stuff works great and is very durable. Use a coat of white before orange. Got mine at Gander Mtn.

Agreed, the white paint first makes a positive difference.

I have been experimenting with a bright green from Humbrol (No 203) and with a Flourescent Yellow (Racing Finish) from Testors.

Both show up really well.
