Front sight height?

I am having the Weigand Interchangeable base fitted to a model 66.

Anybody know what front sight height will match up to the factory rear? Or is it going to be a shoot and try approach?

Can you measure the top of the stock sight above the bore axis? That should tell you how high the new one has to be.

I thought about that, I guess I need to compare the S&W ramp to the height of the weigand adapter too.

A good start would be the .136." I'd install it without doing the stake-in for a trial. If it's too high or too low, go to the next leaf; either the .146" for a higher one or the .126" for a lower one. Try one until you find the right combination....then stake in it when you find the right one.

I've found it's mostly just a guess until you go out and do the shooting to see where you really stand when you change either the front or rear sight height.
