After picking up a 9c and a shield last week. Am I understanding right that large capacity mags will fit my 9c. And if yes does someone make a sleeve for exposed part of mag so it isn't so dumb looking. I have had pistols and revolvers for 40+ years but this is my first venture into plastic guns. I hope my picks are good ones.

The X grip (x-grip.com) will do very nicely. I have several and full size magazines are available and the compact 9mm are not. Smith really needs to do something about that.

you can order the 10 round mags online, these are the same for the compacts with an extension for the states that limit capacity like NY and CA.

This is a pic of a FS 10 limited mag. The mag is the same as the compact you can just remove the limiter and replace it with a base plate or pinky extension. I was able to get those free from S&W

Just make sure you make the distinction that you have "limited capacity" mags for your compact and need those specific base plates. There's 2 part numbers for the extended compact base plates, one fits the "limited" 10 rd (same as 10rd FS mags) and one fits the "increased" capacity compact magazines. The magazines themselves are cut differently on the bottom, thus, the baseplates are different.

S&W has the standard extended plates available, but the limited capacity are backordered as of today. I called to get some for a couple FS 10rd I want to use in a 40C with 9mm conversion instead of hunting down additional magazines. Didn't ask about the standard non-extended baseplates as it's not what I wanted.

Just a heads up so guys don't get the wrong base plates if this is what they want to do.
