All.
I went to the range the other day and while shooting CCi mini mags in my 15-22 had a lot of trouble with FTF's.
The rounds would jam up at the feed ramp and some would end up jammed in the lips of the magazine .
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Was this a new gun? Reason I ask is that my gun did the same when it was new. I cleaned it of all the **** they put into them to ship and it has not had issues with CCI mini mags.

If you watch the bolt slide the rounds from the mag you will notice that when the mag is loaded incorrectly the top round's rim gets packed behind the next round's rim. This causes the chambering round to pull the second round partially out of the mag and when the bolt cycles it forces the fouled round's rim to get lodged in the front of the magazine. Thus the failure. Proper loading cures this.

Oiling the mags

I respectfully must disagree with that. The mags are meant to be ran dry. Any film of oil will likely cause them to gum up quicker than they should because the film will attract grime.

As far as loading the mags I've noticed the more straight up and down I hold the mag when I load it, the more the rounds seem to load correctly. If there isn't a correct stagger, I pull down on the load assist button a bit and let it snap up into place.

Works well for me.

I agree. I have had the same problem and i think it was from not loading the mag properly. It seems like, when i rush to load a mag is when i have FTF's. If i watch the magazine stagger I never have a problem.

i only seem to have issues when using a brand new mag(25 rd), after a week or so of use the issue seems to go away.

Figures once I spoke about it, it happens...Went to the range today and had FTF and jamming problems with my CCI mini mags. I was in a hurry loading the mags, as i was on a time limit so the wife could shoot it. Slowed down and loaded the next one perfect and no problems

Only have had two FTF. Never when it was in my hand though. I've only let two people shot my 15-22 other then my son and both times it FTF. I loaded the mags correctly and just to be sure after both FTF , I had my son double check my mags. So, I chocked it up to it being a .22, it happens once and awhile.

Red,

I have seen this with mini mags after I have ran a few rounds through the 15-22. They have the wax coating that can clog up the feed ramp. I have wiped the feed ramp and they were off and running again. Try some of the CCI's that don't have that wax **** on the bullet.

Interesting observation. I have had two mag snags in several thousand rounds, both CCI Mini Mags. Once it was my fault in that I was in a hurry loading the magazine and I probably did not stagger the rounds correctly; the second time I was sure that the rounds were staggered correctly. From now on I am going to wipe the feed ramp down after each magazine of Mini Mags I shoot.
