I really wish I could saw all the full, useless, heavy, full lugs off and send them to you.......Why in tarnation do you need a full lug on a 60-4 or 617??
Mike,
I felt pretty much the same way, at least about the 617 with its tiny little bore through all that stainless steel. OTOH, with a .313" hole bored through it, it worked out quite well for the 327 Fed Mag Project 616 with its not-insignificant level of snap. My next "big build" project, the recreation of a Model 16-3, got a much lighter weight barrel to complement my 1948 vintage K22 and K 38.
"Useless" and "heavy" are relative terms. I like the extra heft on my 60-4. In both cases the extra weight is a positive for me. Of course YMMV.

I'm mostly a fan of 1/2 lug guns, but I have 2 full-lug revolvers. The first revolver, I ever bought, was this 686-6, about 5 or 6 years ago. I didn't know or care about "pre-lock" guns. It has a superb trigger and overall feel, and has always been a reallyb good shooter. It got me started loving revolvers.
I agree that a full lug, on a 6" .22 is a bit heavy for the caliber, until I take it to the range. Not sure if it's the gun, or me, but the only other handgun that I own that can shoot as well as this 617 is a High Standard Supermatic.
I wasn't really looking for another .22, at the time (2-ish years ago), but it had tools, papers, and box, and carried a price-tag that seemed to be about $250-300 below market. How could I pass it up, especially with those crazy asymetrically-grained square combat grips?
I have owned two full lugged handguns in my life. A Colt Python SS 6" and the S&W 610-3 4". For my preference the Python felt to muzzle heavy and has moved on. I am getting use to the 610 now, so will see how it goes
Got a couple for starters, a Andy Horvath 3" full lug "K" in .327. Also a Manurhin MR73 in .32 long and .357. Smithnut, nice grips on the Roper above. Larry
