Full Lug Friday!

Froggie, that looks like a nice size for .327 FM; I've got a soft spot in me for that caliber.
The only full lug I have is a 6" Ruger GP100, so nothing special. I guess the 442 counts tho, right?

Glad you like it jeffrefrig. I sometimes forget how long it's been since I had this gun built, but if you like it you can read here all about the building of Project 616 here. It was the first real custom handgun I had built for myself from start to finish and is a treasured part of my personal handgun history.

Not everyone has the ultra-rare Model 68-1 but it is my only full lug L-Frame gun. A great shooter.

This is why I don't own any L-frames.

Full lugs make me want to [emoji2961]

I really wish I could saw all the full, useless, heavy, full lugs off and send them to you.......Why in tarnation do you need a full lug on a 60-4 or 617??

Mike,
I felt pretty much the same way, at least about the 617 with its tiny little bore through all that stainless steel. OTOH, with a .313" hole bored through it, it worked out quite well for the 327 Fed Mag Project 616 with its not-insignificant level of snap. My next "big build" project, the recreation of a Model 16-3, got a much lighter weight barrel to complement my 1948 vintage K22 and K 38.
"Useless" and "heavy" are relative terms. I like the extra heft on my 60-4. In both cases the extra weight is a positive for me. Of course YMMV. :)

Currently 4 full lugs reside here - 1 S&W (686+) and 3 Colts (King Cobra, Cobra & Python)
