Fun starts tomorrow update post 73

I have an appointment nice and early Friday morning for a colonoscopy.
Tomorrow I start the cleanse.
On the one hand I'm looking forward to getting this over and done with but I'm not too eager to start the actual experience.
This is my first colonoscopy and from what I understand it's the cleanse that's the ordeal and the actual procedure's not really that much of a big deal.

I had my first one back in April. The cleanse is indeed the worst part of the process. Did they prescribe the magnesium citrate + laxative regimen or the gallon of some other stuff? I had the mag cit lax one and it really cleaned me out. If you do the mag cit be sure to refrigerate it well before you drink it. Whatever, stay close to the toilet and get yourself some of those pre-moistened wipes for after the TP.

They gave me a pill, while I was waiting for it to take effect I laid my head on the pillow. I noticed them doing something at my rear, I thought they were starting... THEY WERE DONE. Took care of some pallups while they were at it. Pick a fun place to eat on the way home. Ivan

You are right the procedure you won't even know it was done. I had a upper GI at the same time they said they used a different probe but I couldn't tell and they sure didn't tell. Hope all goes well.

May 9th I did it on both ends. Endoscopy and a colonoscopy. The best part of the whole ordeal is a good report from the doctor. Good luck and stay close to the privy.

TEN YEARS, the dirty rat told me five years.

I was also told to come back in five. Seems when they yank out a couple of benign polyps they put you on the "close watch" list.

I am kind of small. I guess in some cases the smaller cavity size causes the intestines to have to "turn" way more sharply, resulting in the scope being way more difficult to navigate. In my case, this caused me wo wake up from the drugs in considerable pain. They backed off, increased the dose, and I was okay.

I'm due for another one this year. Needless to say, not looking forward to it, but I will get it taken care of. Colon cancer runs in my family.

A word of advice, when in doubt, remember it is better to assume it's NOT gas!!

I'm hoping he was referring to the main poop pipe connected to the toilet. Code requires that it's no less than 4".

Good drugs huh, I just hope they wear off quickly.

Hopefully you have a complete colonoscopy, in cases where they don't complete them for whatever reasons, a Barium Enema is routinely ordered. That is truly uncomfortable. Especially when they introduce air contrast to the radio graphic exam.

The first half hour to 45 minutes after starting the cleanse you can act normal. After that I suggest taking up residence on the can...NO EXCEPTIONS...

My first one was back on January 11, 2012 and I was scheduled to retire at the end of the month. The doc performed the colonoscopy and later came into the recovery room and told my wife and I, "I'm making an appointment for you to see a surgeon". I saw the surgeon on January 17 and he said, "We need to get you in for surgery". I had surgery 15 days later (the day after I retired), had 12" of my colon removed, and stayed in the hospital for 3 days. I had an annual colonoscopy for the next two years and everything looks good so far. I'm not due for another one for 5 years (hooray!)

The doc said that colon cancer is very curable if caught early. Mine was caught early and I am thankful that I get to enjoy my retirement.

My suggestion is don't put it off and quit worrying about a "little" inconvenience.
