Fury, the movie

I'm anxious to see this as well, but my wife doesn't want too 😞. I am a fan of brad Pitt, He supports the 2nd amendment unlike a lot of Hollywood. I think he is very talented, he has movies I don't like, but the majority of them I do. His wife loves weapons too. For her wedding gift he built her a $400,000 shooting range. That would be pretty sweet.

Pitt's spousal unit is also into guns.

Though I don't agree with her politics, Angelina Jole owns twin SIG's similar to the models she used in the "Lara Croft" Tomb Raider movies.

Isn't it funny how Hollywood portrays heroic and patriotic US historical events but acts completely opposite in reality?!!!
Yes reminds me a lot of Arnold and sly Stallone. Made fortunes off of gun violence in movies, and turn around and believe us "common folk" don't need them for protection 😠

Just a note--Kirst wrote quite a few books about the lot of the common soldier in the Wehrmacht during WWII. Most were available in paperback in the late '60s. I read most of them; I'd like to reread them.

There was a trilogy based on all this called "08-15" around 1970 or so. It's not nearly as good as the books but what the heck. Mine is VHS...

Haven't seen "Night" in a long, long time now.

08/15 is on DvD, but you will have to get it through some outfit like: Belle and Blade dot com.

I saw it on its first day out here. I liked the equipment and the action but the acting was typical hollywood. I will be happy when hollywood joins America again.

I'm looking forward to seeing this one. When Brad Pitt came on the scene I thought he would turn out to be just another pretty boy with no talent to back up his hansom face. Boy was I wrong. He is a VERY talented actor.

The first movie I saw him in was Thelma and Louise with Susan Sarandon and Gena Davis. I rolled my eyes back in my head. But he has made many movies by now that prove he has real talent and is a versatile actor. Seven, A River Runs Through It, Fight Club Just to name a few.

Well I misspelled Brad's name too but I corrected myself lest I wind up on the fires of propriety. Carry on y'all. :D

Thats OK,at least you dont get him crossed with Rob lowe--like I always did.

I look forward to seeing it. Some of the reviews claim it is "the best war movie in thirty years". This puts it over Platoon and Saving Private Ryan. That is a pretty bold claim, as combat vets have told me those two were about as realistic as they get as far as the combat was concerned. I wonder how this movie will compare, especially to Private Ryan.

Thats not saying much. Now if they had compared that movie with the likes of:The Longest Day and A Bridge Too Far--THEN id be worried some.I saw platoon--but hated it because at stones anti-Americanism showing full blown in that one. SPR wasok at best but--just MOHO. I liked The Longest Day better for the over-all effect and NOT to compare for realism. TLDs cast was much much better too.

The Govenator SHOULD look at himselfin the mirror on that one--he owns a fully functional Abrams tank--guns and all.

I coud careless for hollywood these days. As long as I have the classics and classic TV--they can go down in flames for allI care. There are tens of thousands of classic movies to be had--hundreds fo thousands of TV episodes so--if I never see much of anything modern--wouldnt bother me at all.

I don't blame Arnold a bit for having a tank. For many years I have driven a VW Safari, or Thing as it's known up North. But, from the way the Taxis and machos-in-training drive around here I'd like my next German fighting vehicle to be a Panther tank. I'll bet that 75 m.m. L/70 round could go through several irritating Taxis in a row and not even slow down on the way.

Ah, just dreaming.

Was there a Panther in the movie? The same museum they got the Tiger from also has a Panther, but I've seen nothing about it being in the movie. I guess there would have been more comments on that if there were one.

Saw the movie this weekend, if you wait for DVD, your going to miss a lot of impact, if only from the acoustics.
Girlfriend along as well, her father was a Sherman tank commander with the 745th, who started in Africa and rode it out to the end. He told her stories about coming up against Tigers and your only chance was to get close and behind.
She got to see an example of that in the film.
I got to explain some of the accurate depictation of the of the equipment in the film right down to the fear the crew demonstrated facing the high velocity 88's. She and I enjoyed it! Included an image of the medal case she made for her father.

I'm pretty sure the series' main character was "Gunner Asch". Over the course of the books he rose in rank. Good series; read them many years ago.

We saw the movie today on a three story tall ultra screen and it was excellent.

In the opening scene there is a Panther...alas, all the hatches are open and it is on fire. :(

I don't know WWII technical details as well as some of you guys, but my son and I saw it today. We thought it was well worth the price of admission. It was real gritty, not glorious. Calm one moment, then violent hell breaking loose. Just like real life sometimes. For some reason, my son has no interest in being in Armor. Had I ever been in a fight that ferocious, I'm afraid I would have drawn myself up into the fetal position, and been crying for my mama ;-)

The Hen and I saw it---why she wanted to go is still a mystery.
Observations :
War is gory and no movie gore can out do war.
It was so close to the end and this crew had been in for the WHOLE of American involvement. That happened !
The humanity that CAJ observed was not lost on me. It is real and it is not a controlled thing--it just happens.
I was a little surprised at the method of head on attack of the Panzer by this american platoon. By this time in the war---very early on actually--it was recognized that the only success the Sherman could have was a side or rear attack.
My wife's comment after the movie was that it pulled no punches.
Actually humanity pops up in the most surprising instances in life.
Did any notice the covered up PTSD shown.
Blessings

The star is Brad Pitt, not Pitts...Obviously, one of our posters wasn't invited to his and Angelina's wedding and can't recall how the family spells their name.

Probably missed George Clooney's wedding, too. But we should still able to spell simple names. Brad Pitt is one of the biggest grossing stars today, and his name should be a household word. I almost never go to movies and I know his name.

But I may look for this film on DVD if I don't see it in theaters. It sounds better than expected. Thanks for posting.

So, you know how Brad spells his last name? You'll go far!
I was glad to read the review, knew what he meant and resisted the need to nit-pik. I'll go to see it when it hits the cheap seats. Now, where the heck is that spell-check button?
