Hello from Australia.....

My wife and I are currently going through the long, laborious process of obtaining a class H license for sport/target shooting with Handguns.
We're limited to .38 as a maximum caliber so 9mm and .357 is fine but .45 is not allowed unless we also apply for a Cat C amendment, which we are doing.

My wife has very little idea of what she wants to shoot, she likes the Automatics, 1911 etc. but also really likes the smaller grips of a revolver, so she is unsure, i am steering her towards a S&W if for no other reason than I love the brand, have always liked them and i'm not really sure why, the exceptions would be the Colt Python .357 or the Desert Eagle.50 which we can't have.....

I know what i want, a 627 V-Comp, i like the idea of an 8 shot revolver, and it's a work of art to me, aside from the stupid lock which will likely never get used anyway..... I also REALLY want a 945, probably a -1 and it has to be a 5" barrel, I saw one in a gun magazine over 20 years ago and it has always stuck with me, if i'm limited by my license i'll get a pro series 9mm which is easy to get here but if i do get my Cat C i'll be looking for a 945 which i'm sure i will have to import from the U.S but i'll deal with that if/when it comes up LOL

Anyway, thanks for having us, we will have lots of stupid questions and I appreciate the forum being available to us.
Cheers

Greetings from Southwest Florida. Welcome to the greatest forum on the planet!

What part of Australia do you hail from? I've spent a little time in Townsville, Sydney, and Perth when I was in the Navy.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

We're in Brisbane, or Brissie, BrisVegas etc. SE QLD, great climate, awesome part of the world actually, 1300 kms south of Townsville, another nice part of the world in QLD

Welcome to the forum from the Piedmont of South Carolina. My wife had a pair of S&W revolvers, a Model 19 and a Model 17. They felt the same in the hand and had the same sights—both 6-inch barrels. She could pick the recoil she wanted for shooting that day. Her preference was 38 Special +P

Welcome aboard from coastal North Carolina.

A Walther PDP-F series was designed for people with small or medium hand size and is being marketed to women.

The PDP-F is a 9mm striker fired polymer pistol with 16 round magazine and weighs about 24 ounces unloaded. It has great ergonomics and a sweet SA trigger.

Welcome to The Forum!

I spent a week in Bunbury back in 1982. My most vivid recollection is how nice everyone was!
