Heading to Pulaski - SALMON! I will be passing 2 gander Mtns. 1 in Pa and 1 in Ny. Are their prices crazy? Is it even worth stopping in and looking?

I have an ok supply, so i dont plan to pay crazy prices. Their online prices seem high, wondering if stores had different prices.

Why do you think they call it Gander? One look at the prices and your neck pops off of it's swivel, giving you a long necked goose appearence while you stand there gawking with disbelief at the pricing.

I frequent one of the NY Gander Mountains. I wouldn't call them cheap but they are reasonable most of the time. Not the greatest for guns. Their selection is pretty good depending on what you're shopping for.

If you are looking for tackle for Lake Ontario Salmon, I would shop at one of the local tackle shops up that way. GM doesn't specialize in anything "local".

Good luck. Salmon in this part of the lake have been hot and cold. We've had a fairly productive summer with small mouth though.

Looking at Gander for ammo, since in not a NYer cant even touch the guns!

I have my salmon gear, stopping in Fat Nacy's for bait. Hoping for the best tomorrow. Its called fishing and not catching for a reason.

Back when ammo was plentiful GM was always higher. Ammo isn't plentiful now so if you need it you'll have to pay the price.

Bubba Moun'n was never known for "bargain" prices, and especially not now. Better deals can be had elsewhere if you're patient and determined enough to look.

I don't even go there any more. They have an ammo "sale" it was more like we got a bunch of ammo come look at it but don't plan on buying any

I LOVE the GM off I-81 on your way. Never know what to expect.

Usually, their prices are aweful. Everything is overpriced, but once in awhile they screw up.

I got a pre 27 unfired for $295. No box or papers. I guess its worth at least $1200. A year later I got a pre 14 with minimal wear, and box and papers for $250. My local gun shop has one for $550.

I go there weekly to check them out. The above 2 were the only ones I ever bought, but if i hadn't gone there somebody else would be laughing all the way home...

If it is on sale at GM, you *might* get a good deal.

I bought my M&P40FS at GM last December. It was on sale that week at a better price than I could find anywhere else ($499+tax). The salesman tried to sell me some Blazer Brass FMJ 40 cal ammo that was on "sale" for $180 per 500 rounds, but I said no thanks. I ended up ordering some Winchester Ranger FMJ target ammo online the next day for $150 per 500 rounds.

Generally , their prices are high. However, the one here local to me has 350 rd bricks of 9mm for $ 119 , limit 10 bricks per customer ,
so you can walk out with 3,500 rds if you need it .
Also Fiocci 9mm 50 rd box for $ 17 . Also had Winchester 100 rd boxes for I think $ 36 .
In this day, those are good prices , and they seemed to have plenty
of 9mm . Very little .357 to be found , and also not much .38 special,
anywhere. It seems .38 special is scarce wherever you go now.
Plenty of .45 acp , .40 , and lots of .44 magnum everywhere.
The most illusive round continues to be the .22 LR .

The GM near me is WAY above MSRP on everything - nice to look, but buy elsewhere

Just left the I-81 one. Prices too high for me. Nothing on sale, back to the reel reason here Salmon.

But they did have some handgun ammo, i didnt even look for 22s.

usually way to high in houston. some times you can sneak up on them though. just go to look mainly, but every once in a while a blind hog finds an acorn. hth.

In Minnesota, Gander prices are insane, compared to local competition. They are a decent store to buy hunting/gun magazines and licorice, but that's about it.

You can almost always find the ammo at Gander that you want simply because few people are willing to pay their prices except as a last resort. I still stop in because they sometimes take in some great guns on trade.
