What options do I have to change out my gas block to a low profile gas block that's pinned like an original S&W. I don't like the idea of just the set screws.

I got mine off of Amazon, don't remember the manufacturer. Search the archives here, there's a lot of info about this topic in prior threads.
Good luck.

You have one that uses the same pin holes that the original block did? Outlaw, what model do you have? I assume an OR?

FWIW, I have a low profile gas block that uses set screws. So far, so good after about 800 rounds.

I have an 811000 and want to change out the block and put a longer quad rail on it, I have heard that the set screw ones are ok but would much rather have one that uses the original pins to hold it in place.

Why don't you just cut the one on it down? Tutorials are on youtube. Keeps your original, pinned gas block in tact and allows you to put a quad rail over it.

Screwed down ones are fine if you slowly snug each one up little by little going back and forth many times till you reach proper toque. Some also use loctite.. I have a YMH small quad but it's not pinned. No issue's at all.. George

There are low profile blocks that are clamped on, rather than using set screws. Once torqued down, shouldn't be an issue.

FWIW, the folks who build the M16 based DMR (Designated Marksmans Rifle) for the Army use set screws on the gas blocks to avoid disturbing the vibration patterns of the barrel with the slots for the pins. That is kinda theoretical, but if they find the set screw system workable (though I don't know how many or where the screws are located off the top of my head), most of us shouldn't have a problem.

In regards ot what your saying if one takes off the factory sight and puts on a small quad gas block with screws that clamp it to the barrel sould one install solid pins in the remaining two factory roll pin holes? Would this help with the barrel vibrations that could effect accuracy? As I installed one but didn't pin the factory holes. George

Wouldn't work, the pins would be too long and get in the way of securing the gas block.
Plus they're really not "holes", more like indentations.
