Gas, goods shortages and inflation rant!

$3.65 this morning in Dunmore PA. As Golddollar said, PA gas tax is very high.

That's about what I'm paying around Pittsburgh, too. I park in my driveway and so far, when I get in my car 1st time of the day I check my gas gauge in case somebody syphoned some out. So far it hasn't happened with any of our vehicles, although someone has been slowly stealing air out of one of my daughter's tires. Two days ago I had to teach her how to roll up my air compressor hose.

Right after Christmas, I'm going to Germany to ring in the New Year with some good friends, and do a little sightseeing in the Alps. My friend Andreas sent me a message yesterday telling me that when I see the gas prices there, I might cancel my trip...it's 1.73€ per liter.

Doing the math, at the current exchange rate, it works out to $7.54 per gallon...

Get your friends to drive you. I end up being a chauffer when I my friends visit. And living in Florida lots of friends show up in the winter.

Just drove back to DFW from Houston on Monday. You can find $2.99 without too much trouble but many places are more.

I have a feeling these shortages are partially, and probably majorly, due to transportation and labor shortages. I discovered today that my local Wally World's back room is stuffed to the gills, while the shelves are barren. They don't have enough people to stock the shelves. Your Sam's Club delayed gasoline may be due to lack of a driver. Gasoline inventories aren't especially low.

Regarding empty shelves or supply shortages you mention Walmart & Sam's Club.

Let's all remember the Walton Family is the richest family in America.
$250 Billion dollars. Their stores could have no products or fuel and they would still have $250 Billion. Maybe they can try raising the pay. 🤔

I just re-booked for June, a 16 day escorted tour of Italy, cancelled two years ago because of the pandemic. The price has increased about 12% since then.

At least you can ease the pain of paying for that fuel, at the Autogrill rest areas, with something tasty from the menu. Had a surprisingly delicious paella at the Pyrenees Autogrill that soothed the wound from the pumps.

Well, there are two problems with that idea. First, I'll be hours away from my friends for all but the first 5 days of a 17-day trip. And secondly, I absolutely love to drive in Germany...so I will happily suck it up and pay the price! :)
