Gas prices revisited

Gas buddy says $3.79 to $4.24 within 2 miles of me now.

People are driving so slow here to save gas they make even me look like a speed demon.
But seriously, I have seen many driving 65 mph on the freeway on warm days with the windows open. I'm gonna guess that they are not running the A/C and think they are saving gas. I tend to work on the theory that anything above 35-40 mph, you are better off winding up the windows and using the A/C. Besides, I cannot abide all that flubbering noise and buffeting. Oh, and it's been mongo windy here in Vegas lately, so you vehicle gets filled with pollen and dirt. No thanks.

At $250 for a tank of diesel in the mighty Dodge/Cummins, my weekend visits to out of town gun shows are curtailed to an extreme...

We've started being a little more careful about consolidating trips and calculating the fuel cost.
For example: since we are staying the summer in our RV we have to go do laundry. The close laundromat is pretty pricey, the further one much cheaper. But it's $10 worth of diesel for the far one vs $3 for the closer one. Not worth driving further, we don't save enough. But then again the far one is by the closest Walmart. If we are consolidating a trip it's worth it since we are going there anywhere.
The trickier one is groceries. Everything but the Walmart is almost convenience store prices (rural area IGAs). But being in the RV we have limited storage. That's still a work in progress but we are "going to town" once a week at the moment.
But then again...what's $7 bucks extra once a week? Not like we can't afford it. I guess that's a bit miserly but the change is we think about it and try to avoid it. Being conscious of it is reducing our consumption a bit. Diesel is $4.79-$4.89 around here. We get 15+ mpg driving around in the country and 10+ mpg hauling the RV.
At least propane seems to be steady.

$3.50/gal. give or take a few cents. That's for 87 regular. NW Arkansas.
4.36 in NW illinois, paid 3.89 in Wi. Had to go up to job.137.$$ to fillup !!

1967. Across the street from our fraternity house. Simonson Station. 16 cents per gallon. Our local Simonson Station is $3.89 today. We never did see four dollars here.
