Six weeks until my much anticipated matriarchs outing to the "old country", for myself, my eldest daughter, and her eldest daughter. After several years of false starts for this trip, we booked a sixteen day tour with Gate One Travel last Christmas.

Looks like the Corona Virus had other plans though. Oh well, better luck next time, God willing.

That looks like a fascinating itinerary.

Unfortunately, at this time it would also take you right through the worst of it.

Hopefully, you can pull that off once this is over.

Look on the bright side:

Now you have extra money you can invest in toilet paper and ammo....................

OH WAIT: you can't find those either right now!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Oh well, it was a thought. ;)

Even though we'd decided to postpone our trip, we were waiting for Gate One to officially suspend our reservations. They had been announcing trip suspensions in 2-week increments. First 4/1 to 4/15, then 4/15 to 4/30. If that pattern held, our tour departure would have been in the next group.

Well, it looks like Gate One and the travel industry have acknowledged the obvious new reality. I just received the tour suspension e-mail I knew would be coming, though instead of the 2-week increments used previously, this notice suspended all tours for 2 months from where the previous suspension ended, through June 30th.

Postponing my vacation is unimportant, though I'm sorry for those that make their living from it. Just posting this as a sort of milestone in this crazy pandemic. The truly perplexing thing to me is that cruise ships are still operating through increasingly deadly sailings.
