I purchase one of those Gerber knifes in 19974
I still have it. It’s thinner than the Buck 110 and rides easier in the pocket

Got this one at the LGS in 1974 when I was working in the field. The Gerber "Sportsman's Steel" was a slow seller so the owner sold it to me for next to nothing. I could never see using it to attempt to sharpen a good knife.

A true classic! I have the same one, have had it for well over 40 years. The stories it could tell. You won't find a better blade.

I carried this one 5 days a week, at work, for about 20 years.

It's been used, abused, dropped, stepped on, beat up, beat down and it always came through. One tough knife.

The only reason I stopped carrying it was I got hooked on those fast opening knives with the pocket clips.

I have one of the Gerber Sportsman's Steel laying around somewhere. never had much luck with it
