Was looking around in the search engine and couldn't find too many folks that had a question, or "Got one!" type thread at all. I am looking for some porn pics of your 310 NG, or sounding off (good and bad I guess) with a short eval. You knwo...."I like this, but don't like this."

I can't wait. I am an FFL and have many guns pass through me to customers. And I have had many carry guns. Semi, and wheel guns. But for some reason, hen I saw the Nightguard, I knew it was going to be special (at least for me). I know it's not really all that special. not the first revolver with an alloy frame. But I am REALLY looking forward to shooting this girl.

What are you using for carry holsters? And any other cool things about your 310 you might want to pass along. Again, I am open for "Not-so-good" comments as well.

I have the 325 in .45ACP and find it to be a wonderful revolver. I bought a Galco holster and it is a perfect fit. As these are somewhat new models, not all holster makers are up to speed. You may find it interesting that the Scandium "atomic" logo from the "J" frame lightweight revolvers is missing in the NightGuard series.

Hmmmm......

I suppose that makes this model even more unique. The absence of the atom, that is. I'll check out Galco. Thanks Fred!

I just bought a 325 NG (.45 ACP) and I'm looking forward to my first time shooting it.

I previously had a 329 NG (.44 mag) and 18 FTFs out of the first 24. The dealer I bought it from took it back in trade, and gave me what I paid for it. I understand that there is an issue with the firing pin being too short...and some experience the FTF problems. S&W will fix it if you have the problem, though, and I decided I really wanted another revolver to go along with my .45 ACP pistols, and I like the look and feel of the NG series.

If I have any FTFs, I'll send it to S&W and get it taken care of.

I'm glad that you found a M310 to buy. I too have an FFL, and I can't recall ever seeing a 310 in stock at any of my distributors. Let us know what the barrel length is. S&W's web site says 2.75". all of the other NightGuards are 2.5". I have a 3 7/8" 610 that does very well and the 310 gets my nod for a NG. I have a M325 2.75" and it rides in a Galco shoulder holster. The 310's ability to use either 40's or 10mms sure covers some ground. Full house 10mm's will handle most things that walk upright and 40's make suitable training ammo. Enjoy. Bob!

My camera sucks but...One like this....

UPS should be here soon....

And I will be able to get a good look at it. Geez, after all the S&W's I've owned this one seems like I'm buying my first one.
GKC: I wish you would have checked out the problem before trading it. Well, I mean, if you got what you really wnated in the first place.....then that's a good thing. But would have been interesting to see if it was the FP. Oh well, all's well that ends well.

Roadranger: I got this M310 at Jerry's Sport Ctr. Not sure if you are familiar with them. They have a seemingly healthy supply of M310's and M357's (41 mag) in stock. And a few 329's left. LMK......

I've read a number of posts/articles indicating that the problem is with the firing pin. Apparently, S&W installed one that is too short, in order to meet the CA drop test...and in every case that owners either sent it back in to have the FP replaced, or installed a longer one themselves, it fixed the problem.

The curious thing is that not all of them have FTF issues, based on experiences of other owners. In fact, I called S&W to see if I could send my 325 in to have a longer FP installed just to be sure, and the rep said "They don't all do that" (meaning have FTFs) and suggested that I fire mine first to see.

Oooooops!!

Well, Got the little blue case open. Opened the cylinder, looked around. Very nice pistol. Love the black satin stainless on any gun. But since this one is mine. Well, it looks much better than the others.

Anyway, just as I am turning to get the case, my elbow scores a direct hit on my camera and......crash! Ummph! Zowie! KerPlunk! Yes, that's the sound of my (uh...more of my Wife's than mine....Yikes!!) camera hitting the cement floor.

So....I am currently licking my wounds, and debating an allowance with the Wife for a new Camera. You know...."Hey Honey, look here"....."est Buy has the new 'blah blah' camera on sale!" I hope to wrap up negotiations by tomorrow. Obviously, pics will follow. Without actually firing the pistol (which I will also do tomorrow), I can only say that it is a very attractive looking S&W. Hope to have a range report and pics tomorrow. :D

Hey, Poof!! Got pics. My Daughter's cheap little cam. But not bad. Had a lot more that were "better" shots. You know, showed the "10mm" rollmark.pics like that. But they were blurry. It's a 1.9 megapixel camera. Probably could have taken better shots with my Crackberry. I am hitting Best Buy tomorrow after the B-Day party, so my boy can pick out a movie. And I will wander on over to the Camera isle. If there is a certain area anyone wants me to take, LMK.......

As a 610 owner, I'll be very interested in your range report, especially in regards to the recoil with the 40 caliber. Unfortunately, over 20 years of design work on the computer and 30 years of running milling machines have left me with wrists that con't tolerate too much recoil. About all I can take without suffering lasting pain is full power 357 Magnums in my 38 ounce 620 and I do have to limit the Magnum shooting to 50 rounds maximum in a range session. If the 310 has recoil equal to, or less than my 620 with the 357 Magnums, with the 40 S&W, it then becomes a very interesting gun for me.

BTW, I am currently loving the 610, moon clips are a real joy to use for range outings, I can load up a bunch at home after a cleaning session and do nothing but shoot with my range time.

Well, kinda. Got them loaded onto my computer. But it's 2am and I'm beat. I am unable to hit the range tomorrow. Shooting is only allowed from 11am to 14:00. I'm going to be at my Son's B-Day party. Chucky Cheezes!! Arrggghhh!! Oh well, the things you have to do sometimes for your kids.

I should have a range report on monday night or Tues. morning. Hey scooter, sorry to hear about your wrists. Glad you're still out there shooting though. I plan to bring a bunch of .40 reloads with me also. Just to see how mild they are. I have 5k or 6k in "Lite" 40 for USPSA Prod. class. So this gun should barely flinch at these 40's. With the Win. ST's and Hot Hornady 155's I should get a nice feeling for the 10's kick. I just got my dies and and plate for my Lock-n-Load (which is an outstanding Progressive Press!). Also ordered some 200gr. and a lot of 135gr. bullets from Zero. So, I am going to have too much fun loading me some killer Pig rounds. Later...

Well, as you can tell if you got to this point, I uploaded teh pics to the wrong reply. This getting old Sh#t is for the birds!!

This is my first posting to The Forum. I have been reading and enjoying the comments and bits of wisdom and advice for a few months.

I have some old Smiths that I inherited from my GrandFather and have enjoyed shooting over the years. I also taught my son to shoot with those old revolvers. Recently I bought a new model 327 8 round .357Mag. I just wanted to let you know that I enjoy shooting it. I will be changing the Pachmayer grips for some wood conversions. Thats just my preference, I've always shot better with wooden factory Smith grips.

Didn't get to the range today, but....

took it out of the case and fondled it a bit. And I have come to the conclusion that it is not right for me. So I will be selling it. I will put it up for sale here for a few days befor posting it on Gunbroker.

Sorry to hear that the 310 is not to your liking...
My plans are to pick one up in 2 weeks at our local gun show... Salivating in the meantime.

I'm a BIG 10mm fan! Delta Elite with an early serial #(safe queen), Kimber Eclipse in 10mm (bowling pin duty and USPSA once in a while) - can't wait for a CC NightGuard in 10mm!

Then on to the G20 for the total 10mm package!
All the best!

WestMi-Shooter; You may want to try out your 310 before selling it.
I had two 610 that shot well but felt too heavy for a 10mm carry piece even in the 3" barrel length. I now carry my 310 in a well used Bucheimer holster. Most of the numbers on the back of the holster are long gone however there is what looks like "444x".
Although I liked the feel of the 310 from the first time that I picked it up, I had some concern about both the front and rear sight being non-adjustable.
I had no reason to fear the fixed sights. I shot a mix of six different .40 S&W loads (165 & 180) plus two different 10mm loads at 50 foot target distance. Windage was perfect for 7 of the 8 loads (the Winchester White Box 180's shot 1"+/- to the left). The 8 types of ammo produced a vertical group approximately 3" high with the 10mm and hot 40s shooting about 1" low and the light reloads shooting about 1" high.
There were two FTFs when I used 10mm without the moon clips. There were no FTFs with either the .40 or 10mm loads when moon clips were used.

I have one too

I love it... concealable with a jacket, good ergonomics, shootability, great sights, controllable for the caliber, takes .40S&w... allows to great defensive carry options...

But... just like the other nightguard that I bought a while back, it had to be returned to the factory for firing pin replacement. I had numerous rounds fail to fire in the first box of 50 rounds. The factory installed a longer firing pin. If you have failures to fire, send it back immediately. You will get it back in 2-3 weeks and it will be trouble free.
