I just finished cleaning and lubricating my new Shield this evening in preparation for a ladies handgun class I will be taking this Thursday night.

I am very excited about this new experience. It's something I never done before, so I have no idea what to expect during that first shot. The suspense is killing me!

Any words of wisdom or interesting stories about your first experience with a handgun?

My first handgun experience wasn't as good as your first handgun experience will be. Mine was a J-frame Model 637. Can't wait to get myself a Shield. BTW, have fun.

If you haven't dry fired the Shield yet you may want to do that. The trigger pulls easily to a point then you get substantial resistance then the shot breaks. Getting the feel before you have live ammo and possibly an audience might be good. The trigger is good it was just different for me. This little gun shoots very softly, I think you will really enjoy it.

Yes, I have dry fired it several times. I've been working with this gun on a near daily basis so I feel very comfortable with it. When I held this gun for the first time, I knew it was the one.
