Getting Old and Hearing Problems Driving.

You say Tampa??

Would not be my first. second or third choice!:)

know the area well.

Well I'm looking to move to an area with a major trap club and I believe one is in the Tampa area.

Hearing aids? I don't need no blinking hearing aids ;)

I'm 71 and have been wearing hearing aids for about 5 years. I didn't want them either. I have significant hearing loss from youthful ignorance involving magnum handguns, loud music, chainsaws, and Harley Davidson motorcycles. My SIL is a Doctor of Audiology. She comped the exam and sold me the instruments at her cost, so she had reason to push me into getting hearing aids. What convinced me was her telling me that if the brain does not receive the signals in a certain frequency, it may permanently lose the ability to "hear" sounds in that frequency range. So by the time you decide you need hearing aids, you may be past the point where they work for you. Sooner is better. Yes, they are a pain and a hassle, but worth it every day.

Old age?

Had the same problem when I was a teen. Might have had something to do with an 8-Track and Free Bird. :D

Florida cops call some drivers "Cue tips" they have white hair and their signal indicator is on.....Cops there frequently stop drivers using a walking cane to depress the accelerator .....when I was on the road we used to "drop" a re-test request in to DMV on elderly drivers and they'd get an invitation date to take a road test (never saw one pass).

It would pretty easy to make something up using a computer chip timer so that after a set number of blinks, a low amperage, high voltage (think spark plug wire here) shoots up through your seat. :p:D
