I sort of accept my eyes getting bad and my body getting a few more aches and pains and having to watch my diet closer.

I hate it when close friends and family members are passing away and my wife and I look at one another and realize how lucky we are but............

Today I really KNOW that I am getting older...................
I just typed up a nice long thread, which takes time with just two fingers, and did it on................
the wrong FORUM !!

Bummer..............

Nevada Ed: you have my sympathy I have my share of aches and pains and my eye sight ain't what it used to be so I have to wear glasses and I have seen a lot of my family members and friends pass away its no fun getting older.

Yeah, the Ruger guys really get sore when you post all the pics of pretty S&Ws on their forum. Well, when you're getting on in age, you reflect on times past, and friends gone, but I'm still having fun. And I plan to for quite some time to come.

Hey be happy you’re able to feel all those problems that shows you’re on the top side of the grass.

I get up and drive 5 miles to the general store and get the newspapers first thing each day, what a pleasure it is to read the obituary column and find you’re not in it!:D

Rest assured I understand you I have enough medical issues that are busy fighting trying to take me out!

Ed, I thought about starting a thread about listing all our ailments but I don't think the forum has enough bandwidth(I really don't know what that is) to hold all of mine much less all the others. know what you mean. lee

Last thursday my wife theresa had a invasive operation to her foot. She will be laid up about 8 weeks. Even had a cadaver bone put in. Now she is fighting infection. I dont dig housework and its showing. Today she fell off her knee scooter. She is heavy and it was a job getting her off the floor and to bed. When stuff like this happens you realize the good health we take for granite. We have fine neighbors and several have brought us dinner.

Getting old gives me the ability to make new friends every day...of course they're the same people I see over and over again but can't remember.

I tell people I'm 75, "but that's in dog years."

Lots of aches and pains, lots of important folks absent from my life due to death--lost a neighbor early this morning--but life's not bad at all if I take it a day at a time. If I ever get so mentally decrepit that I watch "Real Housewives Of Some Damn Burg", or so physically worn out that I can't walk my deranged little dog, the Holy Terrier, with a J-frame in my pocket, then I'll know I'm really old and it'll soon be time to go.

It ain't time yet.

Too much typing to list all of the problems I'm having at the moment, although trivial compared to those some of you guys are facing. BUT,if you're really interested, stop by the house and I'll fill you in. ;):D
f.t.

As of right now, I'm not older than dirt, but, I'm getting there. I often tell people there's one thing I know. I just can't remember what it is.

Was in a company meeting last week, the VP has 42 years in the business and started off with that, he then said everyone give your name and how long you've been in the business and then asked me to start.

I said I've been in the business since before fire, 44 years, the next guy had to wait until the laughter subsided before he could tell us about his 20 years.

Yeah, when I was still working a lot of the younger guys would ask if I remembered when fire was invented and I just reply "Who do you think invented it"?

I'd been in the business longer than most of them had been alive and knew and worked with a lot of their dads over the years. In a few cases I even dated their mothers before their dad did but I don't tell them that. But I did look at a couple of them to see if there was any resemblance. :D

My wife hasn't killed me yet for anything like being gassy so I am good. That cattle prod she has is painful but it does make me know when she says take out the garbage she means now.

Weird aches and pains; joins, etc, dont work like they used to. I'm two months short of 80, and hope to have fun for a few more years yet.

I found out what the golden years mean......takes a lot of it to stay on the right side of the sod. But my grandkids make it all worth it. I have all their guns in a safe if I don't get to give them theirs in person, they all will have grandpa guns.

Compared with most posting in this thread, I'm still wet behind the ears.

I'm paying heavily for my youth. Too many injuries when I was sure enough a youngin'!

I've got screws, pins, and other accessories scattered throughout my body.

Even if you can remember where or why you got up, I admire all of you guys in your 70's and 80's that still get up and go.

Bravo!!! :D

I've got one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.

to bad when we wake up at 3 or 4 am and don't go back to sleep, we could meet and have a cup of coffee together. i do most of the cooking, store buying, help w/ anything i can. i 've almost perfected cooking different types of home fries. breakfast person. give me a IM if you want to try the latest, really excellent. i just had a hip replaced, much arthridis? in spine and knees. just this morning, after the storms, opened the doors and windows, was glad to be able to smell the fresh air. already bought ribs, going to the range today, fishing fri. morning. also have the aches, slight gimp, and can tell when a storm is coming, swelling or ache. i know now where to check in w/ the old timers when my sleep is over at the early AM. everyone have a great holiday weekend. i make strong coffee.

Yep, what puzzles me is how all these years went so fast. And they seemingly are picking up speed every year. 2013 will soon be half gone and it seems only yesterday that the Xmas decorations were coming down.

I dont buy green banannas any more. Life is like comeing down a knotted rope blindfolded. You dont know how many knots there is until you reach for another hand hold and it aint there.

The years went by so fast because we were always working. I have no clue were my 30's, 40's and 50's went. All of a sudden our older family members have passed on and were the old timers. It seems like time is going by faster and faster as we get older.

You younger guys will find this out someday soon too.
